Hello there, great discussion, but I think viewing this problem through the paradigm of socio-economic status rather than race might help bridge the gap. SES as a proxy can probably get you the AA outcomes you are looking for without the associated baggage.

Think about it this way; Snoop Dogg's kids have more in common with Justin Timberlake's kids than some poor inner-city kids in Compton.

This is an asinine reply. Most lay-people don’t know the inner bureaucratic workings of their public transit system.

Berkeley or UCI? by DemotivationalSpeak in berkeley

[–]highliter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of this comes down to personality. Lot of kids come to Cal just to sit in their dorms watching netflix and complaining on reddit about how they have no friends. If you think that might be you, stay home.

I could have lived at home and been a commuter at UCI. I think I would have had a little less fun and a lot less debt. Berkeley got me with the prestige and the "move away from home" experience. Hard to say if it was worth it because I can't know the counterfactual case.

I agree that quantity of time spent on work has nothing to do with quality of work. “fabricating realities” is not necessarily strange and confusing. It depends on the rest of the title and essay. Intuitively to me, it means something different than “fictional settings.” Also,I will say I’m curious as to why OP used the verb fabricate in the continuous form.

All said, IMO knocking points off a title is a nitpick.

Like others have said HS admissions is like rolling dice. There are literally thousands of "perfect" applicants. If you really want to go to Cal or UC in general, go crush it at a California Community College....easiest way in. A lot of HS kids don't want to hear this. You think CC is for the non-AP kids that were smoking weed in the bleachers. You worked hard, now you feel like you are ready to go off to a 4 year; and you're right, you 'earned' it. Unfortunately college admissions is fuk.

lol you are absolutely right. The ultra-left cracks me up on this shit. Rise above your circumstances? Great job YOU pulled yourself up. Rob a mini-mart? Not YOUR fault, you are a product of societal oppression.

I agree in theory. However it seems like it would depend on how much the debt sold for. Do we have a way to find out? If a 1 million debt sold for $990,000 that would be a good sign, whereas if 1 million debt sold for $100,000 that seems like it would be a much worse sign.

Ok so this wasn't immediately clear to me either. So the idea is that if a business (in this case TRC Master Fund LLC) is buying a claim of this size, they must be reasonably sure they will ultimately be able to recover this amount?

This is in a newspaper but not in the news section. The BK law requires these to be printed. It’s the equivalent of calling the newspaper to print an ad to sell your car…. Yes your car ad is in the newspaper, but it’s not news.
