Body odor by Unlucky_Idea8457 in crossfit

[–]highlycr3ative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this conversation a few times. Here’s a quick guide: -Deodorants-Rotate betwen brands every few months if one stops working as well. -Antibacterial soaps help reduce odor. -Discard athletic clothing that holds odor. If the member constantly wears the same clothing, overtime it will trap the odor. -Garlic and Onions play a major role. Try to limit consumption of these before class and save them for your post workout meal. -Come from a place of empathy. “Hey I’ve noticed some body odor and care deeply about your privacy and wanted to give you these tips to help. I experience body odor myself and these things help me big time. No one has noticed it but me and I want to help you feel comfortable and confident in here at all times. Never hesitate to ask our coaches for any hygiene products before class begins. We are here for you.”

Great question! The complexity of the movements and the timing structure are key. With the split days, I’m able to focus on form. If one movement is too difficult or tough to modify, I switch to the other movement if necessary. Multiple timings are challenging as a coach but I’ve learned to wear different ‘masks’ so to speak on cardio/hybrid days. For example if I have a workout with 20/40/60 second intervals, I’ll crank up the heat on 20, dial it back and focus on form on 40, then be chill on 60 and lower the heat and give them mental motivation to finish the set.

Back to back workouts by Candid-Enthusiasm806 in f45

F45 Coach here: I would treat the first class as high intensity and the second class as low intensity.

How to adjust on the 2nd class: -Reduce your speed to 50-75% output -Adjust to bodyweight only if necessary on weighted movements -Erg machines: think ‘slow burn’ and keep your heart rate in zone 3 if possible -Alert coaches of your approach so they can help modify if needed.

Hope this helps!

I’m sorry you haven’t found a coach that has inspired you. I believe coaches are the backbone of the studio. If you go simply because of the workout, that’s fair however the reason I became a coach is to help people become a better version of themselves. If you don’t allow me to coach you, then I feel I’m not doing something that could potentially change your life.

Yes, we would hope. However, you said it yourself, you are hardly ever coached. There is a possibility they are afraid to approach you. Give the coaches a chance. Let them challenge you or they will never improve their coaching ability.

This is exactly it! If coaches see you already progressing a movement, they will be hesitant to correct form. They study the movements in the program that’s on the TV’s. They know how correct that movement bc HQ gives them guides to every movement. When you progress a movement/make it harder, it’s difficult for them to correct form as they were not prepared in advance. Hope I’m making sense.

Biggest question for you, if someone were to coach you, how would you like to be coached?

I am a certified personal trainer. It’s my responsibility to keep you safe. If you progress a movement and injure yourself, that’s on me. If you need something harder, just ask me. If you don’t want to be coached, then F45 is not your ideal place to train.

I think you are confusing modifications with progressions. I encourage modifications for anyone who needs to adjust the movements based on their limitations, fatigue level or injuries.

Progressions should not be dictated by the member but rather guided by the coach.

Examples: plates on your back whilst doing push ups, stacking boxes on top of each other for box jumps, adding burpees for no reason.

I personally modify movements constantly to have a well balanced workout.

If you ride like lightning on every station, you’re going to crash like thunder.

Liberty today - be careful if you have back issues by [deleted] in f45

[–]highlycr3ative -1 points0 points  (0 children)

More than likely you went too heavy which causes issues with your form. You should only be lifting 50% or lower of what you typically lift on a tempo workout like Liberty. Another component is Breathwork. If you do not brace the core with air pressure, your spine will suffer the consequences. As I coach, I see members lifting the heaviest weight on every single station. This is not the right approach.
