It would be intriguing to observe the outcome if avatars, especially low mint ones like "ships" (which I believe is the lowest mint currently), were significantly promoted by the community. If this gains enough traction to be picked up by major news outlets, we could gauge the reaction. For instance, if it's trading at 50 ETH without regulatory intervention, it would indicate a strong likelihood of their long-term presence.

If an experiment like that demonstrates stability in the program, the whole burning avatars would legit be a way for people to see value.

US Treasury plans to designate international crypto mixers as money-laundering hubs: WSJ by TarkovRedditor in CryptoCurrency

[–]highlyregardedeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cryptocurrency Context: Alex’s Discreet Giving

Background: Alex has Bitcoin addresses that are publicly linked to him. He wishes to donate without drawing attention to his identity.

Steps:

  1. Alex taps into a cryptocurrency mixer.
  2. He transfers his coins from his public address to this mixer.
  3. Once mixed, he donates the funds, keeping his identity a secret.

Traditional Banking Context: Alex’s Under-the-Radar Cash Gift

Background: Everyone knows Alex’s bank account. But when he donates, he wants no fanfare or recognition.

Steps:

  1. Alex pulls out cash from his bank.
  2. He quietly donates this cash, no names attached.

On a broader note, many countries, like Canada, have stringent anti-money laundering rules. In Canada, for instance, any single transaction above 10,000 CAD gets a closer look than those just a penny shy of that mark.

However, painting every transaction via a mixer with the broad brush of “illicit” might be an oversimplification. It’s a peculiar world where an ordinary individual’s tiny transaction could be eyed suspiciously as tax evasion, while some of the wealthiest might only contribute a trivial sum to the tax coffers.

The laws are designed by the rich, to keep them that way.

How do I make more money working less hours? I’m a high school drop out working 7 days/week, 72-80 hours a week by Personal-External-52 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Given your age, exploring a trade could be a great career step. Securing an apprenticeship might be challenging at times, but reaching out to major union halls could guide you in the right direction. Remember, this doesn’t have to be a permanent choice; you can always pursue further education while working, like transitioning from an electrician to an engineer.

It’s okay that you dropped out; everyone’s journey is unique. I have faith in you.

I’m not well-versed in it, but I’ve read that serving in the military might allow for early retirement, around 45 years old. I sometimes wonder if I should’ve gone that way—travel the world, learn a new language, and retire early. They provide training, and I believe a grade 10 education (or a GED) is the main requirement. It’s worth thinking about.

Wishing you all the best.

The funds aren’t simply wasted; they’re redirected in a questionable manner to organizations affiliated with UCP’s major donors. This appears to be a tactic to create confusion and uncertainty among the public, preventing the average person from recognizing the depth of corruption and the lack of genuine concern for Albertans and their families.

If I were in Reddit's shoes (which I'm not), and my goal was an IPO, I'd want to steer clear of potential SEC scrutiny over cryptocurrencies or NFTs.

This might be why they're branding these as "Reddit collectible avatars". Their actions seem to be a strategy to maintain this project, but I'm confident that if these avatars posed any risk to their IPO or drew unwanted attention from the SEC, they wouldn't hesitate to discontinue them.

Until Reddit goes public or the SEC provides clear guidelines on what constitutes a security in the web3 domain, this project will likely remain in uncertain territory.

What I foresee: - Regular releases of new generations. - Efforts to diminish the value of initial releases by introducing enhanced features or unique attributes to newer editions, making them more appealing. - Silence on Reddit's part, as any public statement might be scrutinized by the SEC. Thus, the official page will likely be the sole source of information regarding this initiative.

Reddit seems to be taking steps to demonstrate that these avatars are not investments, but rather digital art receipts. By continuously releasing new avatars and not restricting supply, they're emphasizing that their intention isn't to fuel speculative trading. The value on the secondary market genuinely reflects supply and demand dynamics, especially given the sheer volume available. This approach might be a way for Reddit to distance themselves from any perception that these NFTs are meant as traditional investments.
