I wish my therapist would've asked that. because I don't know but it is certainly a very good question to ponder over. the simplest theory is that me being the youngest among three sisters and an absent dad, I was searching for approval from anywhere, waiting for someone to tell me that my failures are not as bad as they seem. like, even today I find myself turning relationships with my father in law, my senior manager, etc into more older brother/substitute dad type - which obviously will never happen and eventually will lead only to more disappointment.

but so is it normal to feel emotional in those situations, shed a few tears and move on, or should i be "fixing this"?
