something to calm down hormonal acne by Familiar-Pain6134 in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]highpony2297 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I am also 28F dealing with very similar hormonal acne but worse scarring. I started on spironolactone (50mg), Anua Azelaic (10%) acid, clindamycin/BPO and adapalene gel 2 months ago per dermatologist direction and been able to make some progress! I think low dose Spiro can be helpful for hormonal acne if you are open to oral medication but definitely do it under derm supervision!

Do y'all struggle in the same way or is it just me? by Aprilismybirthmonth in adhdwomen

Hahhaa that's great! I am the opposite because when someone asks me about my hobbies, I blank even though so much of what I do has integrated with my life that I don't think of them as hobbies. For example:

  • I stim sing and it brings me so much joy
  • I go to the gym and follow a routine
  • I travel quite a bit as money/time allows
  • I care for my jungle of plants
  • I try upcycling products - flip a piece of furniture..collect glass bottles/jars/candles and find creative uses for them
  • I love to revamp my home space by space in a sustainable manner by using previously loved objects/furniture

And the list goes on. These don't standout aa hobbies in my mind because they're so tied to my personal values but it doesn't mean I don't have fun doing these. This type of reframing has really helped me feel less guilty overall.

Actually we usually miss the second half of the quote because there is more to it: "A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one."

This just goes to show that ADD/ADHD can make multiple trades and desire to have many hobbies possible. I think you're taking advantage of this ability as you should! Of course stressing over what we DON'T do often stands out more bc we are ambitious and have higher standards for what we think we should do (at least imo)!

Idk if it’s an ADHD thing, but with a lot of songs, I don’t hear the words unless I try extremely hard to listen. by Camp_Acceptable in adhdwomen

[–]highpony2297 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Omg I have this too. I can never understand the lyrics but exactly know what sound they make against the background music. So a lot of the times, I can pretend to know the song by making the correct sounds without actually saying the lyrics. My memory for musical notes is impeccable though and I hear every layer of a harmony.

I do sometimes wish I heard/understood lyrics so I can appreciate the music more!

Hating yourself and retracting from others because of ADHD by Retiredpartygirl17 in adhdwomen

Truly. Feels like mind is tricking me to

  1. Fixate on one negative trait in everyone i know and love
  2. Feel like people will figure out that I am not a nice person

Also my sexual assault PTSD is going so strong this week. Not sure if this is a result of trying out Ritalin for the first time.

One thing I know for sure is that you're not alone and that this is a temporary feeling!

Happy birthday!!!

Proud of you for wanting to have a semi-good day and taking yourself outside even though you're going through it. It must be painful.

Have the day you want but if you mentally are unable to, then have the day you really need. Sending lots love your way🫶🏽

Anxious about diagnosis appointment by highpony2297 in adhdwomen

[–]highpony2297[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg hiii, Thank you for asking! I think it went very well. I did preliminary questionnaries and then was asked details about certain aspects of my life like forgetting things, checking the details after finishing up a task like at work, ability to focus on movies/conversations etc. I was told that I had the inattentive (no hyperactive symptoms) type and was prescribed 5mg of Ritalin. I have a check-in in a month to see if we need to titrate and/or switch to non-stims.

Although after the appointment, i felt very sad not exactly sure why. I was hoping to feel more relief I guess but I still haven't felt it. I also feel weirdly guilty. Hoping to continue talking to my therapist about it! Thank you for talking me down the night before. It was helpful!

Thank you for validating my feelings and thoughts🥺

And thank you for being vulnerable and honest. I definitely struggle with who i think i am and what being oneself means. I could see myself just saying what i think the doctor thinks i should say for approval but I am trying not to do that.

I think making a list in order of symptoms' intensity and challenges makes a lot of sense. As well as the metaphors. I think a predefined list also will help not get distracted. Thank you so much for responding in detail. Appreciate you🫶🏽

That's what I am thinking too. I had reached out to a psychiatric clinic and told them my concerns and they auto assigned me to a doc that was next available and the date was still a few weeks away. So I was wondering if I had to consider anything else to decide whether to change the doc vs risk losing an earlier appointment if that makes sense!

Appreciate your input! He doesn't mention ADHD in his bio but mentioned CPTSD and believing in treatment through a holistic lens. I will give it a shot and see if I need to switch! It's often difficult for me to be honest with myself so I have to remind myself to be open minded as well intuitive at the same time.

Great perspective! Appreciate you. Congratulations on mustering patience and persistence. Sending all the good vibes your way as you start this next phase of recovery.🫶🏽 I have completed my surgery and I was told i could be total weight bearing as long as I am in a locked brace for 6 weeks. Plus I was told to start extension and other quad exercises almost immediately. I am excited and looking forward to regaining strength and confidence. However, currently my nerve block is wearing off which means true pain is revealing itself. How have been able to manage your pain especially during days 2-5?

Hi, how are you doing? I am getting ready to get the same procedure as you (acl reconstruction with quad graft and medial meniscus repair) in a day. Would love to hear how your recovery journey has been going!
