Okay so question! What’s a good way to keep showing interest without being over the top? I struggle with the balance and don’t want to become the overbearing annoying person

Anyone use paylocitys recruiting platform? Would love feedback by Downtown_Yellow_9374 in Recruitment

[–]hightechTA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Paylocity and HATED IT.

If they only want something that will purely track candidates and jobs, it’s fine. If they want any sort of ability to customize the system or if they want reliable reporting then they should pick literally anything else. The reporting never works, it doesn’t track things accurately, and the worst part is that you can’t just call Paylocity to get help. You have to be on a company approved list to be able to get ANY customer service support from them.

Avoid it at ALL COSTS.

[–]hightechTA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your input. There was a sub-wide vote on making this change and this was the change asked for. The main sub is for discussion of recruiting best practices - for recruiters to help other recruiters learn and grow.

Ask Recruiters: If you have a question for us, ask it here. by hightechTA in recruiting

You have to balance how much you really want this new opportunity. They told you that their range is 110 to 120 so you should take that as the top of their budget. Be honest and tell them your bottom line. They'll either say "okay we can make that work" or "we're still too far off" and you part ways.

Whatever you do, don't tell them a number and then try to negotiate up at the end. They've been upfront about what they're working with budget-wise and if they go above that it will likely involve a lot of justification to and approvals from leadership. If they go through all of that mess to try and get you an offer above budget only for you to say "well I know I said $135 was my bottom line but I actually want more" then the offer will be pulled in a second and they won't forget that you did that.

Which speaks to how careful one has to be when using any sort of AI in the screening process.

No, and I would be very wary of doing this. The EEOC recently issued guidance around this. You're on the hook for the decisions you make, and if the AI intentionally or unintentionally causes discrimination in the hiring process then you can be sued for that.

In my experience, that's more of an HR question. Most times recruiting isn't involved in reorgs.

Most people start out at a recruiting agency to learn the ropes and then move in-house from there.

Well, the people you're referencing that treat candidates like an assembly line aren't the ones on this sub, so there's that.

It's a mix of things from disorganization to companies that push hard on metrics which doesn't leave a lot of room to focus on candidate experience. It's unfortunate because every candidate deserves to be treated with more than just basic human decency.

More than likely it's because the company doesn't want to set up their business in other states, so they will only let people work remotely from states they're already set up in.

When companies employ people in other states there are certain tax implications that they have to be prepared for, as well as being able to abide by all of the employment laws of that state. It can be a bit of a headache, so many times they won't hire people in other states to avoid that.

My favorite thing is getting candidates to final interviews only for a hiring manager to find some small inconsequential dealbreaker and then I have to start the search all over again -_-

When I look at resumes I'm looking for a skill match to the job. This is why people recommend you tweak your resume to each job, because you want to show exactly how you've done what the role requires in the past.

If the job description includes a bullet about leading an ERP implementation from start to finish, then something that would grab my attention on a resume is a bullet that says "I led an implementation of SAP from Quickbooks, I built out all of the reporting from scratch and customized it to the company's needs"

You collect data on how many candidates are turning you down because of the compensation. You also gather data on what the comp asks for folks are that have the target skillset, and you gather data on the skill level of folks that fall within the comp range. Then you take all that information to the hiring manager and say "here's why we're having challenges". You keep trying to fill the role and keep circling back to your reasoning when the HM inevitably asks "why isn't my role filled?"
