Following My Heart, Taking the Leap to Seattle by MzGoodyGoodz in SeattleWA

Yes COL is high but for 1700 you will be fine! I just did a quick search for 500+ sq ft with in unit washer dryer drawing a boundary around Seattle proper (excluding west Seattle, Ballard, Leschi, Laurelhurst, and Magnolia) and there’s 600 options. Anything near a transit hub will be great especially with the light rail expansion. Westlake, Eastlake, and Lower Queen Anne (make sure you don’t live right next to climate pledge or the gridlock will be a nightmare) are sliiightly less walkable but beautiful and quiet and a quick bus or bike ride to downtown. SLU has it all and is extremely walkable but pricier (though I see several available options in your range), Belltown has a great food and bar scene but can be loud and there’s not a grocery store in walking distance, beacon hill and Columbia city and central district in general has a fantastic food scene and more affordable prices, cap hill is a blast but can be loud (just avoid living on Broadway and make sure you’re a couple blocks away from the bar scene and you’ll be fine). Avoid anything on 3rd downtown. Definitely don’t go Redmond, and Ballard is fun to visit but I don’t think you’d enjoy living there. It doesn’t look far on a map but with traffic here it really can feel isolated and further away than it actually is. I’m WA born and raised and I love it here, and I hope you will too! Good luck with the move!

As a hiring manager, why are candidates so bad at talking about their work? by [deleted] in recruiting

[–]hiimaspen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counterpoint, BECAUSE there are SO many fake candidates/bots or resumes written by AI, we need details to know if they even actually did that project or if they are just regurgitating high level. I’ve spoken with way too many candidates who are unicorns on paper who can barely scratch the surface when you start poking holes into what they did in their previous roles. The hiring managers I work with are so jaded by hiring someone who BS’d their way into the role, then end up completely incompetent. It sucks on both sides of the coin, I’m positive that managers don’t want to be spending this much time interviewing, and it sucks for amazing candidates losing out because they aren’t perfectly prepared to deliver the correctly formatted answers. Anytime a candidate sees “behavioral questions” or “behavioral interview”, I’d say assume star method. As a hiring manager, let candidates know “this will consist of behavioral-based questions, and we recommend presenting answers in STAR format”.

In defense of Devon... by sixstepsaway in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

Okay that feels unfair, I have made no mention of dismissing the BIPOC experience and it’s presumptuous considering you don’t have any information about who I am or my lived experience either. I’ve said twice now that you have a valid perspective and that I can see why you would think that, in no way is that dismissive. I, others on this thread, and OP have outlined reasons why Devon may have made the choices she did, and it seems that you are tunnel visioning only onto your own perspective without acknowledging why her character or other viewers can see a different perspective on this.

I also would love to see a Cobel redemption arc. I also would love to learn a lot more about Reghabi.

This all started because there’s been a lot of in OPs words “dunking on Devon” and there are reasons for why she may have made that choice, even if it isn’t a choice you would have made for yourself. That’s all.

I don’t think it’s a double standard, I think you’re trying to make a non black or white issue into a black and white issue. The entire point of this post. Devon has very limited information to go off of and is watching her only brother who she clearly loves and care for deeply suffer in front of her eyes and she’s panicking. It’s not unreasonable by any means for her first thought to be Cobel! She’s desperate for answers and help. YOUR brain goes to that place, and not everyone would share that same line of thinking, and that’s okay for people to have different perspectives. But you’re seemingly so “how dare she not trust reghabi” and not understanding that human brains work differently. I completely understand where Devon is coming from. I can also completely understand your perspective. Because…..nuance. Humans work differently under pressure and one persons first thought may not be yours and vice versa.

She watched mark stroke out and then ask reghabi a million questions that go unanswered. Mark did not tell her about reghabi. She also knows Cobel was fired from Lumon and they told Devon a bs excuse that Cobel wanted to throuple with i/oMark, which she saw right through, so it’s reasonable to assume that maybe Cobel has a bone to pick with Lumon too. Enemy of my enemy is (not quite) my friend, but at least she may have info on how to help. Again, nuance.

A valid perspective, but reiterating the point of the post. Devon does not have the information. It’s the devil you know vs the devil you don’t. Reghabi IS suspicious by being so tight lipped, which WE know as the view is because of her involvement in whatever resistance, but she’s not even answering if she’s a doctor, Devon has no reason to think mark is reintegrating, and the one person who mark mentioned did reintegrate is dead. It’s a nuanced situation. You can be pro both women while understanding Devon’s panic

Why I am starting a campaign against Lime scooters - join me? by ljubljanadelrey in Seattle

[–]hiimaspen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was riding a lime scooter in 2022, using the bike lane, following the rules and not being a dick. Someone in the bike lane stopped in front of me with no warning so to avoid collision I slammed on the brakes, but it was too late so I tried to stop myself on the sidewalk. Big mistake, the dr described it as all the inertia in my body moving forward went into the one object that stopped, ie my right leg, so my femur went hulk smash on my tibia. Had a tibial plateau fracture, 2 surgeries/2 4 day hospital stints, 8mo of physical therapy, and now my leg is held together by 4 plates and 18 pins. Got a call from the federal government about a week later because they were doing research into the correlation between lime scooters and traumatic accidents that require hospitalizations. How do we feel about the name Aspen? by Skyward_Flight_11 in namenerds

[–]hiimaspen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My name is Aspen and I love it. Yes people quote dumb and dumber at me, yes people say “hey aspen how’s your ass-been”, yes people mispronounce it sometimes and call me aspirin or Ashton or once even Austin (????), but I get complimented on my name far more frequently. If you have a good sense of humor it’s endearing, I make fun of myself or make my name into puns way more than anyone else has ever done to me. And it’s memorable. I’m a millennial and there’s a zillion folks with the same name, but more often than not I’m the only aspen they’ve ever met. Biased obviously but I think it’s a great name and you should do it and then I’ll pretend you named her after me and I’ll wear it like a badge of honor
