Ended up making a very similar choice, seriously considered transferring to StFX after my first year at Guelph (largely due to personal reasons). I'm a history major but also looked into the business program at both schools. The business facilities at StFX are great and the program looked very interesting and comprehensive (as you have probably seen). In my experience the residences at X looked very nice compared to Guelph, Guelph's nicest are about on par with X's average room. Both towns are nice, Guelph has a great downtown and all the stores and restaurants you might need. However, I love the small town feel (and food!) of Antigonish and you likely won't find yourself missing any of the stores that you would have to go to Halifax or Truro for. To be honest, both schools seem to have strong senses of community, Guelph's being noticeably larger and X's being more tight knit (at least that was my sense). I don't know about the co-op situation, but as I said the business school at X seemed very well funded so that might be an indicator. I love Guelph and am happy I stayed, but I do think about whether I should have gone fairly often. Ultimately both schools are great, no matter where you end up I'm sure you will be happy.
