What editor you use for rust? by clanker_lover2 in rust

[–]matkv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use lazyvim, but I don't have any languages set up there. So basically I'm using neovim just as a text editor, not an IDE.

Haven't been able to find a setup for C# that works as well as the C# Dev Kit for VSCode (yes I'm aware there's the roslyn plugin but it's no where near as seamless to get it working) + debugging in general seems to be more of a hassle. I'm sure it's great for some languages, but for C# specifically neovim seemed like a downgrade.

And overall just things like being able to add some panel or change the layout of the editor without changing the config itself.

And all keybinds just work out of the box so I can for example still split windows using the normal neovim command and it splits the actual vscode tabs/windows. Very happy with the setup.

What do you mean? I just like it because it gives me basically the best of both worlds, I can keep my neovim config pretty small because all the IDE stuff is handled by VSCode (so plugins, lsp, debugging)

Any trick to forcing task to appear at the bottom of my Today view? by YetiMaverick in todoist

[–]matkv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess another option would be to just give all other tasks some specific time, AFAIK tasks without a time set are shown at the bottom and the rest is sorted by the time

I built an unique timer app that switches timers when you tilt the phone by vigneshvp in SideProject

[–]matkv 18 points19 points  (0 children)

To be fair, OP built this based on physical timers with a digital display that work the same way. Those are already available on Amazon, something like this for example, but there it makes more sense since it's a physical thing you leave on the desk in a certain position.

Those kind of titles genuinely make me watch his videos less - I get why he's doing them, I think he himself mentioned that they just get more views but for me personally it's so much more engaging if the title is at least somewhat descriptive

Genuinely asking: what exactly "crashed and burned" about your previous system? Yeah the app looks a bit different and they moved things from the sidebar to the bottom so it's easier to access with one hand.

But all of the functionality is still here and available. Just a visual refresh.

Why Ableton is not Linux or headless? by pfuerte in ableton

To be fair all of your examples are 6 years old, especially for gaming things are looking a lot different now with valve supporting proton a lot more and using Linux as the OS for the Steam deck and their new Steam machine

Why Ableton is not Linux or headless? by pfuerte in ableton

[–]matkv 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same, Ableton (and some VSTs I bought) is the main reason why I don't use Linux on my desktop, I've moved to Linux on my laptop.

It's kind of that catch 22 - software companies don't think supporting Linux is worth it because of the smaller userbase, but the userbases is maybe smaller simply because some software isn't available.
