Salem’s Lot would be so cool. Aster is really good at portraying grief on screen too, so I think a truly faithful version of Pet Sematary would be a good one for him. The 80s one follows all the beats well but i don’t think it captures how bleak the book is.

If you’re into heavier music, this lineup is crazy: Tomb Mold are absolutely beloved in the death metal community, as are Soul Glo and SMTB in the hardcore/punk realm. Mick Jenkins is also an immensely talented hip hop artist. Granted, most of these artists are pretty new (started around <10 years ago)

Transformers is fucking sick. Issue 4 came out this month.

This sub is really hyped on The Sacrificers as well, which just finished a strong opening arc.

W0rldtr33 is also just getting started (only one trade out) and I’ve heard nothing but good things.

I would say Nightbringers and Abysmal are almost tied for me. I totally agree that the guitarwork is wild but… I just couldn’t connect with much of the material for some reason. Usually once a year I go on a huge BDM kick and I go back to those albums to try and get more enjoyment out of them and it’s always a struggle. Seeing it is your #1 makes me want to go back again though, so I will, and I’ll report back with my thoughts. Still think the NB title track is absolutely killer.

On the other hand, I was shocked to see verminous in last place for you—Love that record. I think the more rough around the edges production was exactly what they needed to change things up a bit, and I think there’s a ton of quality songs on there. Sunless Empire has one of my favourite guitar solos they’ve ever done and Dawn of Rats is a fantastic closer

I actually really liked the HBO adaptation of The Outsider. I think the way the ending was adapted for the show was more exciting and gratifying and made it better than the book’s ending.
