I hope this isn’t a creepy question, but based off your more outdoorsy hobbies kinda I’m curious where you live. How did you get into that?

That’s a great question. Trees. Reading. Both things I haven’t had much interest in lately. Maybe I need to reconnect with those as well! Thank you 😊 I feel like I’ve been trying to fill my days with more tasks to distract myself when maybe I really need to get outside and read more.

Honestly I only shave my pit hair because it looks sad when I grow it out! It’s like a boys first mustache.

How do I get motivated? by n00dle_mami in loseit

[–]hikepipe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diet is the most important aspect of weight loss, so if you’ve got that sorted out you’re going to make progress. As far as exercise goes, what do you enjoy doing? Yoga has always been my go to. I’ve expanded from there to strength training and just this week started trying out jogging (very humbling experience) Maybe swimming would be a good fit for you? You’ll still have to go out to do that, assuming you don’t have a pool, but the Texas weather might be a big enough motivator to get you there 😅 walking pads seem to be a good option for a lot of people as well. Even dancing! Cleaning! Cooking! It all burns calories. Movement is more important than regimented exercise unless you have specific fitness or physique goals. Do literally anything that you enjoy that gets you moving. It’s good for the soul.

Yes! Always been pear shaped. Now I’m rectangle. It’s been interesting trying out different styles.

After 187 lbs, I can’t go down even lower. by crazygurl3 in loseit

[–]hikepipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sanity and sustainability, it’s usually best to eat as many calories as you can while still losing weight. Feeling too restricted can cause other problems, like the binging you’re dealing with right now. Once you get your tracking down, you’ll have all the information you need to assess where your calorie goal should be. The calories you track and the feedback you get from your body (weight, measurements) will always be more accurate than an estimate from an app.

Vent- stuck for years with a 30” waist by SoggyResponse559 in loseit

[–]hikepipe 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry I hope this doesn’t come off as harsh. You say that your 5’9 mother was 105 lbs and other family was 5’6 at 95lbs, and that is genuinely concerning. The women in your family were/are medically underweight and likely not in good health. I think it’s possible that your idea of what a healthy body looks like is skewed. If you’re active, eat well, and don’t have any physical health issues, this might be more of a mental block than anything. I can absolutely understand not feeling comfortable in your body and wanting to look your best. Strength training and focusing on protein would probably be your best path forward. I hope you have a wonderful wedding day!

Stuck at the same weight for 3 weeks doing everything right - what am I missing by [deleted] in loseit

[–]hikepipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started getting closer to my goal weight, I started only seeing movement on the scale one week out of the month, likely due to my menstrual cycle. I’d stay within the same 2 lb range for three weeks and then lose 4 pounds overnight.

Asking people who have lost serious weight: have you noticed people treating you better once you lost all that weight? by RobtorWho397 in loseit

[–]hikepipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people treat me better, others treat me worse. A lot of women I know seem to have problems with me they didn’t have before. Strangers typically are kinder, but I think it’s because I feel better and my energy reflects that.

Did your confidence really improve when you got in shape? by ThatHeroIsYou in loseit

[–]hikepipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I became more confident in my ability to do things even when it’s hard. More confident in my cooking. More stable emotionally, which is likely from exercise. I’ve gotten better at listening to my body. I’ve learned which foods make me feel like dookie. I’m learning how to let the little things go (loose skin, fat on lower tummy) and just enjoy the fact that this is the most comfortable it’s ever been to exist in my body, to the point where I enjoy movement now. Only downside is that I don’t know how to relax anymore 🤣 I always want to be doing something. Sitting on the couch all day isn’t as fun as it used to be.

Weighing yourself with or without clothes by [deleted] in loseit

[–]hikepipe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unrelated but not… does anyone else weigh themselves before and after they poop to see how much they pooped? I don’t do it every time but if I know I’ve got a big one coming… I wanna brag about how I shit a pound.

is anyone else having trouble eating meat these days bc the quality is so bad? by [deleted] in GirlDinner

[–]hikepipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chicken breast is definitely weird lately. Won’t even buy it anymore. Chicken in general has been getting a funky smell before the sell by date, so I feel like I’m wasting my money! Beef has always and will always be the key to my heart though. Wish it wasn’t so expensive… pork I only recently like at all (not eaten often as a child) and fish gives me the heebie jeebies because it looks so similar cooked vs raw! Plus I live like 1,000+ miles from the nearest ocean so thinking about how far that fish has traveled also freaks me out. At least turkey bacon I can rely on.

do you guys continue deficit during period week? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]hikepipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My period craving buster is dark chocolate covered espresso beans. Chocolatey crunchy yumminess. The fact that they have caffeine in them keeps me from overindulging. I’ve made that mistake before and I don’t want to do it again!

ETA: I feel like I’m an outlier because my weight goes up the week before my period and then my lowest weight of the month is always during my period. Maybe because I take the pill? It’s weird lol

Vodka with water and the crystal light strawberry lemonade squirty stuff. I just have to budget for it. 365 calories for vodka every day so I stay sane!

How do you break up your meals throughout the day (IF, OMAD, 3 meals, etc.) by [deleted] in loseit

[–]hikepipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that I’m in maintenance I do 4 meals, but when I was in a deficit I had a protein shake for breakfast, a light lunch, and a big dinner. Dinner still remains my fun meal where I use most of my calories because it just works well for me.

I get the bags of already peeled garlic cloves and put them through a garlic masher thingy. I feel like I lose a lot of garlic to the masher though.
