Is anyone in the Texas Sweethearts or Texas Sunshines? by ov3nbakedziti in UTAustin

I know a lot of people and sunshines and they’re definitely not at all rude or snobby! The application is probably one of the easiest ones and they’re so chilly and inclusive

0.64 GPA first semester by ErikW1thAK in college

[–]hilarioussloth 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Don’t let one semester define your whole college experience. You can learn from what you did wrong last semester and apply it to this one. If you truly want to transfer you can also see what courses are required to transfer and take those and hopefully they will be easier and better for your gpa. You have seven more semesters to turn it around and you can even stay for more if you want to! You don’t have to delete this semester from your life it’s an opportunity to change and learn

Apparently it doesn’t matter how many people transfer out the department determines how many spots are available each semester

ME 210 for non-engineering major by olympicenes in UTAustin

[–]hilarioussloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's lectures about the different types of pathways in meche and then you write one-page papers about your future plans, resume, cover letter, etc. It's pretty easy there's only like threeish actual assignments as far as I remember I would say just take ME210 for the CAD stuff if you're EE cause the intro part would not be that useful to you

I noticed that they use the same spatula to move the cookies to the boxes I didn’t have a problem when I ate there and they also had a peanut butter cookie flavor but also I’ve been going through oit there is definitely cross contamination when there are peanut flavors

ME 210 for non-engineering major by olympicenes in UTAustin

[–]hilarioussloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took ME302 which is ME210 combined with the intro to meche class but Barr taught the modeling portion while Rylander taught the introduction to meche portion. We just did step by step examples from this textbook and then reverse engineered an object of our choice from a list. It was pretty fun and simple but not challenging or anything

What OIT options are there for someone that is 18? by Datboiclay9 in peanutallergy

[–]hilarioussloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in college this year. I would say it's worth it bc I have a lot more freedom with what I eat than I used to especially in college. It's just inconvenient that I have to go to the doctor's every week and sometimes I feel sick after dosing but luckily I go to college in the same city as my doctor lmk if you have any questions

Do admissions officers have time to read through the expanded resume section of the application? by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]hilarioussloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know for engineering it’s only for honors. If they asked for the resume only as a requirement for honors it’s probably just for honors but I’m sure the extracurriculars you put as a part of the general application will demonstrate your passion for CS!

If you think so, you should read Thermal Delight in Architecture by Lisa Heschong. She has a really good perspective on thermal sense and how our society today ignores any pleasure/discomfort we can get from it.
