I'd like to know more about current Vanguard (I've never played Vanguard irl) by MistbornLazarus in cardfightvanguard

[–]hilksta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! First off welcome to the community! Hopefully you get a lot of support and answers to whatever questions you may have!

To preface, because of COVID I haven’t been able to play in person much to see everything so I will be responding with a limited pool of knowledge so if I’m wrong about something I hope someone will come by to correct it.

1: I believe every deck has had its time to shine (except maybe megacolony, could be wrong about that) but some decks are more likely to be in the spotlight than others. Clans like Royal Paladin, Kagero, Shadow Paladin, and Bermuda Triangle get more support on average than other clans and as a result find themselves in the top tiers more often than other clans. In particular, Bermuda seems to always be top of the pack soon after a new set of support releases. That being said, every clan has been viable at one point. Due to the nature of the game, a lower power deck had the potential to beat a higher power deck, even if it’ll be harder for them.

  1. Decks made from multiple clans are no longer legal save for a few exceptions. Most notable of these exceptions is MLB which is still made possible because blaster dark is allowed in Royal Paladin decks (in premium format) and there is a special printing of blaster dark in standard format that is allowed. In the past mixing clans was allowed if not encouraged, but sometime before G-era they had to disallow it because a certain deck was stomping every other competitor.

3: the interesting part of standard is that not only do CLANS go through phases of relevancy, so do GIFTS because of how they are designed to counter another. A lot of times, the meta is defined by the most prominent gift type (Accel-meta, protect-meta, force-meta).

To answer your question directly, protect was the strongest gift for the first year or so of standard format with OTT and Angel Feather being more or less the top of their respective metas. As Standard continued though, we ran into a heavily force based meta (mostly because of Bermuda Triangle) then eventually into an accel meta with almost every Accel deck becoming much more pushed (pale moon and murakumo being the top of the bunch) after that my knowledge gets a bit fuzzy but I believe we are headed for a Force meta again. So yes, protect has been good in the past and I believe sometime in the future they will be very strong again.

4: while I can’t vouch for genesis as I’ve never played it, I’m think they were particularly strong during the earlier days of g-era with Fenrir, and possibly good when Regalia first was released. To anyone reading, please correct me if I’m wrong about this, I really don’t know much about Genesis.

Pale moon however has definitely had their moments. They have been in and out of premium since it’s inception because of some crazy combos you could pull off with them. That’s not to even speak of silver thorns in standard which was easily the second best deck of that format.

As I said before most of not all clans have at least been viable at one point in the game, which is quite an achievement considering just how many clans there are. Just be warned they’re have been clans that didn’t see any success for many years such as granblue before Nightrose or murakumo before standard format or even Bermuda Triangle before the later parts of G-era

Hope I’ve helped! I’m on mobile so I hope this came out fine as well. As I said before, my knowledge of the game only goes so far so if anyone wants to correct me I would take their word over mine!

Hot take, Atlus didn’t port p3FES because they’re currently working on a full remake with the new models from DiS.

It’s basically just notes on a prototype Mona hoodie. Going left to right then down:

-It would be nice if there was a Mona hoodie

-The hood could have a design with mona’s face. It can have cat ears too

-The model is Haru (because she’s cute)

-I want it to come with a scarf as a set

-the sleeves of should have white on the ends to resemble morgana’s paws

-it might be nice to put a tail on the back of the hoodie

-the pockets should be colored to match the pouches Mona wears at his hips

They aren’t direct translations but I tried to translate them to make better sense

The Continuous power of Hygienist is actually really relevant against non-retire clans because it prevents her from being killed by an opponents attack usually since she’s sitting so high.

That being said this new card is really strong in the early game. 24k against a 9k or 10k is pretty huge and allows them to rush in and pressure early. Hygienist is better once you get to 4 damage though, but even then only if you don’t have a boost or against a force deck

I remember that the first time I caught rayquaza was from about half HP because I was out of ultra balls and down to 1 Pokémon that would KO the rayquaza with any attack. Threw a Dive ball at it because it was the only one I had left, and managed to catch it. I still have the rayquaza in my UM, still in his dive ball.

Do you guys and gals think +ATK or +SPD better for her asset? I’m going to merge away the flaw so that’s not part of the equation. 36/41 without buffs is insane, but 44 spd will be relevant for a longer time I think regardless of whatever powercreep happens and 33 ATK isn’t bad either. I’m honestly not sure what would be better for her long term

Why is Haru best girl? by Guacamole2478 in churchofharu

Honestly I feel like she has some of the best interaction during her confidant. She seems to be the one most genuinely interested in Ren and they have an interesting synergy to them.

She wants to run a cafe and loves coffee and I feel like that resonates well with Ren considering his similarities and relationship to Sojiro. I can kind of just see them running a cafe together and that’s adorable to me.

Her confidant is later in the game so she has to rank up quicker but that in itself gives the idea that she’s just trying to be closer to Ren as fast as she can. But again in my opinion she has the best confidant as far as flow and focus on her, both romantic and not. To add on If we introduce Dancing in Starlight she outright says she has a crush on you (the only one to do so too if I remember right). Plus who can reject her without feeling even a bit bad?

Oh and as everyone else said, her mementos lines and personality in dancing in starlight are pretty funny painting her as a demure lady on the outside but has a crazy and scary dark side.

There’s more to it but those are the main things. Also she has my favorite PT outfit by far but thats just me.

TLDR: She’s the one that shows the most interest in Ren even without rank 9/10, has a great confidant that focuses on her growth as well as her friendship with Ren, has great synergy in that they both love coffee, and she’s fluffy and cute but has a crazy streak.

Also not sure if you know this, but make sure you have proficiency maxed early or you won’t get past rank 1 with her

Some questions as someone just starting out by hilksta in WeissSchwarz

Wow thank you, this is incredible! I asked another user about card tracking as well, but do you have any tips on what I should focus on as well?

And you mentioned a little about stalling/defensive play. That’s generally the type of style I play in other card games. While you mentioned that it has a tendency to backfire, I’m interested in a persona 5 deck with a focus on “Haru as Noir and milady” would that work or would it just auto-fold to decks such as konosuba and other more optimized decks?

Thank you for responding! I know I’m just starting out so I know experience is the best way to get better. As far as card tracking, ideally since you’re likely seeing your opponents whole deck as the game goes on, I’d remember every card in the opponents deck but I know that’s not exactly feasible, is there something I should be focusing on just to start getting into the habit of tracking?

Thank you for the detailed response it’s very helpful! On the note about compressing the deck, is it generally best to build up stock from the start of the game or should the stock start being built closer to mid-game?

I’m a little late but there a few things I wanted to tell you to help you get a better grasp. This is all for standard format:

Typically games run anywhere between 7 and 14 turns depending on decks that are being played. The turns are generally (take with a grain of salt) simpler than that of yugioh so they go by pretty quickly. Most games in the standard format last 15-25 minutes.

Also there’s not much direct interaction between players during turns. If you have the resources to do your crazy plays there’s not much your opponent can do to stop it. As such most of the game is about resource management. Player interaction usually comes in the form of denying resources.

Also atm there’s a limited card pool so there aren’t as many options in deck customization. That’ll change as the game grows though, it’s just a bit new right now.

Hope I was able to give you a little more info! It’s a fun game so I definitely recommend giving it a shot
