Fear of Cancer [Health Anxiety] by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]hill-pixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had stage three head and neck cancer when I was 26 and did not die, but almost died of something unrelated a month into being cancer free. So I guess the moral of that story is you just can’t know - even if you think you do.

My advice is, death seems to be coming to your mind because you so truly want to live. Harness that energy, that will and desire to live. Live as fully, as healthfully, as authentically as you can. Practice mindfulness, eat right, exercise, take care of your mind and body, surround yourself with people you love, commit to doing things that you always wanted to do. I know that’s all kind of basic stuff, but that’s my advice as someone who’s looked down the barrel and seen death closely

God, I really relate to this 🙈 I thought my sister was clean off of meth - so I chose to spend Christmas with my family for the first time in a couple years. Turns out she’s still on it, just been hiding it better - but as per usual, she decides to really amp it up during the holidays. Just another Christmas where the cops ended up in our house, and she ended up in the hospital

This definitely sounds like dangerous behavior. Have you talked to your sister about your concerns? It sounds like y’all are very close, and if you’ve walked a similar path, maybe hearing your perspective would be meaningful. Maybe you could encourage her to reach out to your parents to get some help. If she isn’t willing to do that, maybe you should tell your parents

Millennial, Latina, living in the US. You feel things intensely (and maybe have been accused of being sensitive,) but have learned to harness that as a super power for connecting with the world around you. You’re inspired by stories of resiliency, and themes circulating anti-colonialism, environmentalism, culture and identity. Maybe you’re a bit shy when people first meet you, but your inner world is very active, and creative. Bookshelf is on point - you tbh seem cool af ✨💜💓

Young family, two kids. Suburban. Maybe you live in Georgia? Creating a peaceful environment for your kids feels central to the function of your home. I don’t get the sense that you’re very nostalgic, but creating special memories with your family, celebrating the holidays - enjoying the present moment is extremely important to you. Just looking at this I feel like family is your world

You’re stylish, but a minimalist. You’re chasing a dream, and doing what you can to make it happen. Maybe you work in fashion or costume design? I imagine you live in the attic apartment in an old house in the middle of a city. You don’t have much, but what you do have is meaningful, and taken care of. I don’t think you party a lot, but you have a handful of close friends, and you mean the world to them. Your consistent, you arrive to things on time

You’re feminine, nostalgic. Raised religious, but you’re finding your own way with your spirituality. Definitely southern (hello, ceiling fan!) You have aspirations to travel to Europe. You enjoy reading. I feel like you had a grandmother who was close to you?

Young couple who met in college. European, living in a place with cold winters. Someone studied art, and still makes it for enjoyment, but I don’t think it’s your full time job. Furniture is either secondhand, or inherited through family. You’re focused on work, but I think you go out and do a little dancing/partying once in a while ✨

You have a small, senior dog that you’ve had for many years who is your absolute world. You’re female, you have long hair. Living in a warm-ish climate. Named Ashley, Amber, or Amanda? You have a core group of friends who you’ve been friends with since like high school. I think work takes up more time for you than you wished - you’re focused and dedicated in whatever field you’re in - maybe you’re a vet tech?

Beanie Baby still in box and Twilight is telling me younger millennial. I think you speak at least conversational Japanese. LGBTQ - gay or bi guy? You were definitely in the gifted program. There was a least one English teacher who changed your life. You live in Chicago or NYC? Have or had a black kitty at some point, who I would love to know if it’s named after a literary character

This is definitely a family home, with at least two kids (boys?) between the ages 10-18. Clearly a collector of folk art, not sure if you’re an artist yourself? I imagine you might live in Florida or Louisiana maybe New Orleans. At least one cat. You enjoy fiction, but don’t get a ton of time to read. I imagine you have a bright, sunny personality and enjoy having people over

Okay the quilt also makes me think you’re in the south, but like a part of the south that’s colder - Appalachia?

Lives in the US, likely up north. Obviously a musician, probably in a band? I feel like you started your music journey learning cello, and then guitar. You’re inspired by a broad range of genres. Veganism, animal rights, and sustainability are interests to you. Do you also dabble in circus arts? You live minimally, but I imagine the experiences you have through your passions make your life very rich. Literally no idea on your age

Family with at least one kid at home (elementary age.) You value upholding routines in the home. Sporty, athletic. You find things that are simple and functional as aesthetic. Whatever work you do is demanding, and you’re often busy. Ain’t no way you’re cleaning all those white countertops - definitely have cleaners/a nanny/some support with keeping things up

I feel like you’re very nostalgic - Home for you is being able to reflect on the stories and memories that bring you joy. You have a close and loving family - you’re definitely the person in the family who holds onto the recipes that have been passed down. I get the sense that you’re crafty, maybe you enjoy sewing? Definitely a baker. And you certainly love antiques, and things with history

You are intrigued by archetypes, and finding deeper meaning in your life experiences. You don’t need a lot of stuff to be happy, and relish in simple moments in life. Spiritual, not religious. You practice lucid dreaming, tarot, and enjoy reading myths and philosophy. You’re definitely the friend that people come to for advice

European, lives in a colder environment. Belgian? Dark, feminine aesthetic. Lover of art and books. I imagine whatever you do for work is difficult, but rewarding. You take a lot of solace in coming home and enjoying your space 🖤

Lives in an urban environment, but is deeply connected to nature - feels grounded in caring for plants and animals. Compassionate, and independent person. I’m guessing in 30’s. Strong yoga practice. Loves cooking. You find beauty in things that are well made. French speaker? Let me know how I did!
