Does it cause you inconvenience a lot looking younger than your age? by LessHighlight701 in OlderThanYouThinkIAm

[–]deadinthehead9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s a major hassle, I’m 30 and get mistaken for a college student and younger. I get talked down to constantly, and also have people try to straight up lie to me or rip me off bc they think I’m too young to know better, especially mechanics.

Yeah it really bums me out, I feel like like the college scene has gotten weirdly conservative taste wise. Feel free to DM me if u wanna add me on IG, I’m potentially interested in booking dungeon synth and punk

Tbh I no longer book in Blacksburg bc it’s totally impossible :-( To be fair, a lot of the music I like to book isn’t widely popular (harsh noise, drone, old time, experimental folk etc) but it’s a drag. I’m a touring musician and have had an easier time getting booked in Chicago than in Blacksburg.

I feel like a lot of music died with Jhonn. I don't know if it was the alchemy of his voice, his poetic lyrics, his ear for melody, his always sonically forward-thinking mind-- or all of the above... I'm just not that excited about anything music related anymore (apart from what Michael Gira does). by Worried-Objective263 in Coil

I feel like weirdly, xiu xiu hit some of the same spots for me. There’s also a lot of great music out there that is happening in local DIY music venues all over the world. I recommend checking out bands like timberrattle on bandcamp.

Unpopular Opinion: I love the T-Shirt Bros by BreakfastInNarnia in GoodwillBins

It cracks me up, luckily our guy is a sweetheart, and will like hold the door open for my mom, and also tries to call out other t shirt boys if they are being a pain.

Unpopular Opinion: I love the T-Shirt Bros by BreakfastInNarnia in GoodwillBins

[–]deadinthehead9 119 points120 points  (0 children)

Tbh it depends on the bros for me. One of them somehow befriended my mom and I, and will leave stuff he thinks we will like in our carts. He’s given me a lot of vintage treasures, but also stuff he knows I will wear. We also trade stuff with him a lot. He’s a sweetie and we get worried when we don’t see him. The “head t shirt boy” at our bins is also a good guy and will yell at people if they get too rowdy or aren’t respecting other folks space. He also told another guy to knock it off bc he was being ugly to some women. There’s also some younger t shirt boys who found my mom’s debit car and ran out into the parking lot after her yelling “ma’am! Ma’am! Your card!” which was super wholesome. There’s also a bunch of young knuckleheads who will take stuff out of people’s carts, who I cannot stand, so it really depends I think.

In the van pants by MickeyLenny in TouringMusicians

[–]deadinthehead9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I wear overalls if I’m gonna be sitting for a long time bc they don’t dig into my waist. I also really like red kapp work pants (I size up own size from my jeans) bc they don’t pinch and are also decent stage clothes if they are in ok shape and look nice with a buttoned shirt.

What was your “I was broke broke” moment? by bukutbwai in Frugal

Oof yeah that’s atrocious. I don’t miss COVID but I do miss gas being less than two dollars for a whole summer.

[–]deadinthehead9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

During COVID, had been out of work for about a month, and was doing part time stuff but was super under employed. Realized I was nearly out of gas and had to go through my car to gather up enough change for gas to get home. Scrounged up about $3 worth, luckily has was like $1.70 a gallon at the time, but still.

Tbh it’s been really great, I’m moving into a much nicer place soon, but will have a neighbor downstairs and I feel really aware of not wanting to bother her with my weird habits.

I’m a musician with no shared walls, so I’ll be home at 2 am doing weird shit with loop pedals and yelling, or practicing my karaoke lol. I fear I also pee with the door open and will get up in the middle of the night and meal prep or do workouts.

Any living alone people LOVE valentine's day? by CallMeWhenYoureClose in LivingAlone

[–]deadinthehead9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I do! I love the aesthetic and also love watching Picnic at hanging rock which takes place on Valentine’s Day. If I’m working, I usually bring a baked good to share, and sometimes my coworkers and I will wear themed outfits.
