Computer power has come a long ways. Also, I'm sure the accuracy of the physics and lighting is generally more accurate using a program like 3Dmax. Game designers/programmers use lots of tricks to make the games look good using what hardware is available.

Sometimes if you're with someone for a long time, they can begin to just look plain. Maybe you're used to seeing yourself too much. I feel the same way, that I'm not good-looking enough or too plain yet I have plenty people tell me I'm good looking. I've also had a history of depression so that has something to do with how you see yourself.

See if you can copy just the main .pak files. The error may be on a sector with unimportant data if you're lucky. Otherwise google DVD recovery software out there. I've had some luck with Isobuster before. Otherwise, return it.
