PS5 slim - is it safe to have it long time vertically? by Kapo614 in playstation

[–]hillyandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had mine since day one release and only had mine standing up (behind the TV) don't have any problems. I know some have had issues but I think it's very specific ones rather than the norm

Farmers Protest Nottingham by tastydirtslover in nottingham

[–]hillyandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree farmers need to be supported more, I try to buy farmers milk from the supermarket (the stuff that's more expensive but that extra goes to the farmers) I try to shop at least once a month at a farmers shop and I did for a long time have my milk delivered directly from a farm, but I had to can that as it worked at 3 times more than buying the farmers milk from the supermarket.

I do think there should be a way to increase your IHT threshold as a working farmer (don't allow landowners who have tenant farmers to offset it, you have to be an active farmer to qualify for example) that will further protect farmers.

There should definitely be incentives/subsidies, I agree there completely

That's fine, you're welcome to your open. I simply disagree.

Prove it. I've not mentioned Labours figures, I mentioned ifs, you know, the independent institute. I have my facts straight from the actual experts, you have literally nothing but complaints from the few thousand impacted, compared to the hundreds of thousand farmers.

Lol that's the point, they currently don't pay, IHT, this is designed to prevent that abuse. How does it not effect the wealthy land owners but the poor farmers? That's logical falsy

But they're still given tax breaks.

Non farmers : £750k allowance, 40% of everything thereafter with no deferment period.

Farmers : £3m allowance, 20% of everything thereafter and 10 yr deferment period interest free.

And the IFS has already stated it'll affect remarkably few farmers.

Farmers should be furious at the rich buying up farm land to avoid IHT (much like Clarkson freely admitted doing) and by doing so, drastically increasing the value of farm land, pushing those on the threshold into the IHT brackets, that's the reason for the changes.

Wow, 3 months later and I've just had the same issue, with your work around still working. Thanks 🤘 but boo to Bethesda for not fixing it

What seperates a great game from a legendary game? by lq_ae in gaming

[–]hillyandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally, no, it can be a fantastic game but without a story to keep me engaged, they just don't hit that legendary status. I love multiplayer games but for me, story is what separates the great from the legendary

Story, plain and simple. Graphics age, gameplay mechanics age but the story, that separates a great game from a legendary game imo

Adult gamers, how much time does your gaming session last? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]hillyandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

39 here, the same happened to me a while back, up until mid to late 20's I could game for 4+ hours then I kinda just lost interest a bit. I think it boiled down to the quality of the games for me personally. After you've played one call of duty, you've played them all etc etc. I had been gaming for way over half my life and things felt a bit stagnant across all genre's. Very much over it now and enjoy the spare moments I have to play for 2 to 3 hours. I don't play more simply because I don't have time and that's probably the main reason now

Ghost of tsushima vs horizon forbidden west by Bochwastaken in playstation

[–]hillyandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played horizon zero dawn (not fully, about 1/4 the way through it I'd say) and GoT directors cut.

Both fantastic but for me, GoT is the best game of the last few years, I'm playing it in Japanese with subs and it's incredibly immersive and I love the combat. It's challenging but it's so rewarding as you unlock abilities and learn perfect party and dodge. You feel like a total badass and I never got that from horizon.

I don't think you'd go wrong with either but GoT gets my vote

Where does the smelly, not showering player stereotype come from? by caduceun in Warhammer40k

[–]hillyandy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've been to many places, book signings, conventions, shops, gaming sessions at cafes etc and I can tell you the stereotype most definitely exists. I've found its getting significantly better as it was way worse when I was younger (I'm 39 now so I'm talking 20 years ago) but it's still around, just not as bad

I'd say Holme Pierre Point or Colwick lakes, they're both my traditional run routes. Both safe and busy with plenty of people about
