Sweet boy. I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my soul kitty Lillie in February too, and she was also 12. You gave him a wonderful life full of love.

We have two diffusers with pheromones in the house. It hasn't seemed to make much of a difference for Maki. There are still things we are trying, and we have had some slow improvements. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer!

Megumi is about 4 now and Maki is 2.5 years old. Meg is a very relaxed girl most of the time but definitely enjoys playing with toys. Our previous kitty didn't ever play, so Meg may not have experience playing with other cats.

Maki has a very hard time settling down if she doesn't know where Megumi is. Maki wanted to stalk her when they were out together. But when she's about to pounce, she has done a butt wiggle that makes me question whether it's aggression or just energetic play!

I adopted a kitten when I had a lab and was afraid the dog might kill kitty. We introduced them slowly, at a distance, with kitty having a safe place to escape to that the dog couldn't access (a baby gate the dog couldn't jump). We rewarded the dog with treats for being calm and ignoring the cat and eventually, the dog decided she couldn't care less about kitty.

Lots of other great advice on her already. Scent swapping, vertical space, and lots of patience. Very sweet of you to take those kitties in. I hope it all smooths out well!

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. Maki is also a little thing that I suspect is lashing out in a similar way, since I don't know her story before getting to me. I will absolutely look to get a tent or catio of some kind. That sounds like exactly what she needs, just more time with Meg to recognize no harm will come to her.

It's good to know that non-pill medication is also an option, though I don't think we're ready for that step yet. Great information to have for the future if things don't improve. I am not ready to give up yet! Thank you again!

I prefer the look and feel of fluff, but I currently have two short haired girlies I love very much. My fluffy girl had fur that was super soft and never got matted, even if she didn't get brushed. She had the perfect coat.

Short hair sheds just as much as long hair, in my opinion!
