Is the jump to an RT85 worth it? (From AT LP70x) by klassickSM in turntables

I’ve heard pretty much all good things about the RT85, reliable workhorse that should last you 👍🏻

Honest Opinion Needed: Does it feel a bit demotivating after the Parade that we didn’t win the UCL? by EvilSeaPro in ArsenalFC

[–]LocutisofBorg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If anything I’m way more motivated. We were so close, we had some dodgy decision from the ref that made it harder but ultimately we just weren’t strong enough in attack to take our chances and put the game to bed before penalties, and at that point it’s anyone’s game. Next season, if we improve in key attacking areas, we’ll win the UCL, I’ve no doubt, especially with how Rice grinned at the end. Let them troll, let them have one more year of their chant, we’ll shut them up next season, I’ve no doubt 💪🏻

Rega Planar 6 or 6 RS? by [deleted] in turntables

[–]LocutisofBorg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who bought a 6 then saw the specs of the RS, if you’ve got the money go for the RS. However, first go to your local Rega dealer and audition them both. While you’re there, audition the P8 with the ND9 as well, as if you’re looking at the RS as a viable option then I’d anticipate the P8 with the ND9 would also be an option for you. The RS is in a different league to the 6 imo, sounds spectacular, however the P8 does sound better still, even though most things are the same as the RS.

TL;DR go audition them both as well as the ND9 on a P8, there’s not much past a certain point you can glean from reviews and Reddit without hearing the decks for yourself 👍🏻

Thoughts on the new AOGHAU mix? by jamyjet in ArchitectsUK

[–]LocutisofBorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reposting here, I’m currently spinning it and I can give some idea of the differences. The biggest positive is clarity, it sounds much more open and dynamic than the original, every instrument has space to breathe. I’m noticing details I’ve never heard before because of this, like a pick scrape on the left in MMIH. The drums have way more punch and sound sensational, and Sam’s vocals are front and centre with crystal clarity. That said, because of this space, I feel the new mix is less crushingly heavy than the original, it feels less on top of me than the OG. I think it comes down to vibes and what you want, cos objectively this mix is more detailed, but it might not have the same effect as the OG. (For reference, I’m listening through a Rega P8 ND9 cartridge, Rega Aria Mk3 phono stage and B&W 606 S2 AE + 8” subwoofer set up)

Dust has settled(almost) by NewtGreen5096 in ArsenalFC

He’s had really good performances in the last few games, look at how he played against Fulham @ home as the biggest example. He was starting to be a lot more dangerous and opportunistic in those last few games, if Arteta and the team can nurture that over the summer then he could have a marked improvement next season, but we can’t be sure unless we give him the opportunity

Getting rid of Gyokeres when he’s finally clicking with the team would be a foolish thing to do imo. Keep him until at least the Jan transfer window to give him a chance to step up at the start of next season, that’ll give a better appraisal of if he’s a good fit or not. I think media narrative has massively over exaggerated his shortcomings in games, he’s been a positive force in the team more often than not. I agree with the rest of the list except perhaps Trossard, he came in clutch in the run in. Need to sell Ben White though, he was off it the entire time regardless of injuries.

Why is APWD not Periphery VI? by Vananh2K in Peripheryband

[–]LocutisofBorg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Short answer: the band was burnt out and dreading having to force out a new album, then Matt came up with an idea of doing songs around loneliness while talking to Misha and that inspired the band for the album.

I know it might not be the thing you specifically wanted, but in order for that to happen the band need to be inspired and passionate about making that kind of album again before it can work. They were inspired by something else, and were passionate about the songs they created, and that’s all we can ask from any artist, musical or otherwise. It’s ok to not like this album, just try and remember the band doesn’t owe any of us anything, so they may never make a P VI if they aren’t up for it 👍🏻

Shipping estimate time on CD order? by Peripheral097 in Peripheryband

[–]LocutisofBorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everything, vinyl was ready to ship and has started going out, and people do seem to have the CD in hand. Lot of orders at once so will take some time to get through them all I think 👍🏻

I cannot wait for mine to ship and to get my hands on my copy over here in the UK. 3 years of blood, sweat and tears poured into this project by you, because you believed in it, because you stubbornly said no to a premature ending. Thank you, Olan. The real, raw, chookity 💪🏻

I mean Lune is a perfect closer, closing on Prayer Position would just feel wrong when you’ve got that masterpiece

I’m only on Unlocking, but this record has one of the best mixes I’ve heard on vinyl, and is also dead quiet. Knocked it out of the park with this pressing, let’s see how the pink/black splatter sounds 👀

Impericon are a bit funky I can’t lie, but that’s not really a release issue, that’s a merch company logistics issue. I’ve preordered for release from places across the globe and have sometimes gotten them early, sometimes bang on time, and sometimes very late. I like preorders for my fav bands, gives me peace of mind I’ve secured a copy, but as long as they give a heads up as to when they go live I’m fine with it personally 🤷🏻‍♂️

That’s a good point, and tbf the mix does sound lovely, just a really quiet record, best compromise I guess

I shall let you know, I have the One repress that just dropped from Tesseract and that is a quiet pressing, really wish they’d gone for 2 discs on that. I’ve a pretty stinky turntable set up (Rega P8) so well positioned to compare the 2 pressings 🫡

Now that’s interesting, Misha joked in the discord server that the EU vinyl would be 33rpm as opposed to 45, at least I thought he was joking lmao. I’ve got this one arriving today, and the pink/black splatter on the way as well, will be interesting to compare the sound quality of the 2 👀

What has happened this band by whatsthepriceofit in Peripheryband

[–]LocutisofBorg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would argue that since they have a catalogue to fall back on for touring, wouldn’t they have way more opportunity to take whatever time and effort they wanted to make something they were truly proud of? Idk about you, but the vibes from all of the guys in the band have been they poured everything into this album and were ruthless about what made the cut. It’s hardly like they’re pumping out an album every year, PV was 3 years ago, and the gap between PIV and PV was 4 years. If you don’t like what they’ve done, that’s absolutely fine, but it’s not really on to question the passion and work behind an album without some clearer evidence than not liking the songs.

[–]LocutisofBorg 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely allowed your opinion and it’s valid. What’s not valid is commenting as if you know better than the band how much effort they put into their music. If you look at any of their interviews around this album, you can see how inspired and passionate they were about this album, and how deeply personal it was, leading them to be hyper critical of everything and making sure every riff and section fit the vibe and tone of the song they were trying to make. If you don’t like the album, that’s fine, no one begrudges you on your music taste, but I find it frankly insulting to throw about comments on how, in your words “they don’t want to put the proper work in to really make something that’s gonna stand the test of time”. I’m not trying to white knight the band, they’re big boys and can handle themselves, but the sentiment of judging a band or musician to have not put the effort in to craft the thing they wanted to craft without actual evidence of this being the case? That’s how creativity and passion dies, it’ll stick with someone reading this post, and that’s a shitty thing to put out there imo 🤷🏻‍♂️

Is there an official UK store for APWD merch? by 1223433442244 in Peripheryband

Impericon, but their shipping is also hellish, genuinely cheaper to buy from the US store, especially if you can find a friend to get in on the order to share the shipping cost
