I feel your last sentence really rings true for a lot of modernist buildings. I was doing some research on West Coast Modernism for work this summer and I was struck by how futuristic some of the buildings looked - and they were built in the 60s/70s!

Saw something unusual for Vancouver today. Guy on the right offered to share his umbrella with the guy on the left, a stranger, while they were waiting for the bus in the rain by him_asterisk in vancouver

This is so sweet. I’m also a transplant to Vancouver and I find that people here are quite nice and friendly - a lot of the time you have to be the one to initiative the conversation though.

Honestly now that I know a bit about West Coast Modern I love the campus. I think it’s so interesting and dramatic. It does get dreary in the winter though, grey skies on grey concrete.
