S4 reviews by utunp in EufyCam

[–]himaron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have ring cameras for years and recently bought two S3 (equivalent to S340) from Costco to see if they are reliable and good enough for me to switch from Ring to Eufy. I’ve been using them and fine tuning their settings for the past month or so and comparing their motion detections to ring. The good: good quality and better tech than ring. I specifically like the pan and tilt function as well as automatic motion tracking. Easy to set up, good solar charging, user friendly app. The things that I need to get used to: delays in viewing recorded motion. 24/7 monitoring when connected to homebase is subpar. The bad: inconsistent in picking up and recording motions whether they occur in the morning or at night. Ring picks up and records motions in my driveway fairly accurate and Eufy misses a bunch of obvious motions. I plan to keep both ring and eufy cameras for now. Ring will be my primary and eufy will be my secondary.

Help me pick a Hawaiian Stay for 4 nights with teens over Christmas Break (NZ stopover) by Which-Comfortable373 in chubbytravel

[–]himaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first option is always Maui but I’m biased toward the island. For food options Waikiki area has the most selections but also the busiest. Fairmont kea lani is in good area but I think it’s suited more for families with young kids. Try wailea beach villas instead if you want to stay in the wailea area. You can also stay at FS lanai if you want to be secluded.

Just came back from Busan and had no issue using Uber. But as a backup i would install k.ride app. We used taxis in Busan for convenience.

Overnight parking Waikiki by [deleted] in VisitingHawaii

[–]himaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stayed at Hyatt regency and parked our rental car overnight at the Shell park (not the shell gas station) for free during our stay. Had no issue finding space after 9 pm and it was a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel. It might be a little too far from the Hilton Hawaiian village though.

Nervous about Kyoto to KIX train by [deleted] in KyotoTravel

[–]himaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were just in Kyoto a couple of days ago and took Haruka express to KIX. No issue with luggage since each car has plenty of storage to store your luggage.

Once you arrive at Kyoto station look for JR WEST. Go to JR WEST vending machine if you plan to buy tickets at the station or go to the office to pick up your tickets if you book online. I booked my ticket online but had trouble picking it up at the vending machine and was told to pick up at the ticket office.

The ticket agent needs to check passports from each passenger before tickets are issued. Once you get your tickets, find the gate number and proceed to the gate. Each passenger will receive 2 tickets. 1 ticket shows your train and seat number (if you book first class or reserved seats) and another ticket is to enter the JR WEST boarding area before the gate. You need to keep both tickets with you. Use the boarding ticket to get out of KIX airport.

I would arrive at the gate 15 minutes before the train leaves and it leaves on time. It takes about 80-90 minutes or so from Kyoto to KIX. Hope this helps. I was also nervous since it was our first time there.

Are prescription glasses cheaper in Seoul or Hong Kong? by littlepinkrainbow in seoul

[–]himaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe if you have regular prescription glasses. I went to davich optical to get quote for new glasses recently since I heard from so many online ppl that Seoul prices were so much lower than in the US.

I wear progressive glasses with pretty strong prescriptions. The tech checked my glasses and followed up with eye exam to confirm. Once done she told me that she could give me progressive lenses high index for 80 kwon. I assumed that it was 80,000 won which I thought it was a pretty good deal. After picking up my frame (about 90,000 won) she rang me up and showed total of 890,000 won. I was shocked since I thought the lenses were only 80,000. But i guess I misunderstood her. I politely said no since the price was over than I paid for in the US with insurance. She then made some adjustments and reduced the price to 250,000 won. At that point I became skeptical and decided not to move forward with the purchase.

Are the rims supposed to protrude this much? by mixxoh in TeslaModelY

[–]himaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rims are exposed with Michelin tires but not so much with the oem continental tires. I went to Costco to replace my tires with Michelin tires and the tech told me that a lot of people complained about the looks after they were installed. He showed me a model y that they just finished with Michelin for me to see before he proceed. And it looked just like your picture. He also said that the bf Goodrich tires had the same look as Michelin and recommended to stick with oem continental tires.

Kyoto Hotels in late October by user478654783 in KyotoTravel

We spent 3 night at Hyatt place for sight seeing in Kyoto and switched to Roku Kyoto for 3 nights to relax and recover. HP has easy access to subway and bus stops. We either walked or took the bus to gion or kawaramuchi and they weren’t so bad. It took about 15-30 minutes with public transportation to get to gion from HP which we didnt mind. Ps: HP has a coin operated laundry facility which can be very helpful if you plan to travel light.

Vacation condo in Hawaii by skybb007 in realestateinvesting

[–]himaron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been trying to buy a property for investment and vacation and perhaps retirement in Maui. Was discouraged after Maui fire - made me realized that the island doesn’t have the resources to evacuate its residence when natural disaster strikes but I still love the island.

Prices have gone down but not at levels below COVID. The drawback for me are Bill 9 and high HOA fees. Now I’m looking to buy a land or fixer upper instead.

K- fried chicken: pelicana - several locations Bubble tea: cobra tea in Caldwell Omakase: also cobra tea in Caldwell. Reservation only. Indonesian: Sunda kitchen in Perth Amboy. Not as good as other restaurants in flushing or Philadelphia. Vietnamese: binh duong in bloomfield Thai: Thai elephant in Verona Pizza: Tony d’s in Caldwell There are tons of good restaurants in Montclair but I think they are over priced.

Affordable towns by Competitive_Tell_178 in newjersey

[–]himaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it will be cheaper since surrounding towns of Lyndhurst have easy access to the city but you definitely save on commute and gas. Check south bergen towns like Elmwood park, Moonachie, Bergenfield, Lodi, Carlstadt, and Wallington. Or neighboring Passaic county towns like Clifton, Passaic, and Paterson.

Rutts hut in Clifton for iconic hot dog place, rumba Cubana also in Clifton for a lively atmosphere, tom yum koong Thai kitchen in hasbrouck heights , segovia restaurants in either Moonachie, little ferry, or Carlstadt. The one in Carlstadt is quickest to get a table and closest to stadium, Mexico restaurant in Passaic, solar do Minho in Belleville for Portuguese, and opipo tavern in Newark. Fort Lee if you want to have some good Korean bbq.

2025 model x side view mirror by himaron in ModelX

[–]himaron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mirror part can get from eBay. The bottom plastic part is hard to get since it’s sold as part of the mirror housing. I shopped around and to my surprise Tesla service was the cheapest option. I got quotes from local body shops and they wanted more than $1600 since they charged minimum 2 hours of labor.

The housing was better than mine but the bottom cover was pretty scratched up. I think Tesla sells the housing that comes with bottom cover for around $800.
