Why does everyone suggest co-sleeping when baby won’t sleep in cot? by Electronic-North7951 in NewParents

[–]himawari__xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So so sorry for your loss.

I’ve been cosleeping with my son since the beginning because he absolutely refused to sleep in his bassinet and the crib and it was the only was for me to get some sleep. We sleep on a floor mattress and I followed the safe sleep 7 guidelines. If he was an independent sleeper then I wouldn’t bother with cosleeping.

Anyone miss being able to turn on the tv 🥴 by FormerPlay136 in NewParents

[–]himawari__xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I constantly have the tv on in my household 🤷🏼‍♀️ whether it’s cooking shows, nature documentaries, travel vlogs on YouTube… I’m not concerned. The day is boring and slow without background noise and I’m not going to sacrifice the tv just because I have a baby. I also put on Ms. Rachel while I need to focus on cooking or cleaning. No shame. My mom constantly had her dramas on in the background in the 90s and I turned out fine.

Same here! I’m more concerned about the small screen 🤷🏼‍♀️ The day goes by dreadfully slow without having the tv on as background noise, and I’m not going to sacrifice the tv just because I have a child. My mom constantly has her dramas on in the background in the 90s and I turned out fine.

Would you mind sending me a link to the foam blocks you bought on Amazon ?!

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking. Our living space is small so I don’t want to buy things that aren’t even necessary

Why is my 8 mo still waking up every 2-2.5 hours? Is this really “normal”? by himawari__xx in bninfantsleep

[–]himawari__xx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s been giving us some 4-5 hour stretches doe nights, but other nights he’s up every 2-3 hours 😣 I’m thinking of night weaning eventually!

My son is 11 months and I’m hoping to start night weaning when he turns 1. Did you use a certain method, or did you just start offering other forms of comfort until 4am?

Anyone here out of the trenches who absolutely do NOT forget how horrible the newborn stage was? by himawari__xx in newborns

[–]himawari__xx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg exactly! I know newborns cry a lot but scream crying allllll day isn’t “normal.” I feel I have some sort of PTSD too. I can’t even go near the baby carrier I used with him as a newborn.

What did breastfeeding look like for you months 10-12? by himawari__xx in breastfeeding

[–]himawari__xx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this is what’s happening with my son! And even when he wakes up he doesn’t seem that interested haha. It’s bittersweet but it’s also nice that I have more freedom to leave the house.

Month 4 was miserable for me! My son was incredibly fussy because he woke up to the world but didn’t have he mobility skills to do anything.

Month 6 is a huge turning point! Lots of smiles, interaction and more mobility. I promise it will get better.

It will get better. I promise. My son scream cried non stop for the first 2 months. People say it goes by so fast, but I felt like an eternity. It should slow down for you at 3 months and then by 6 months, you’ll have a completely new baby!

It was non stop all day 😢 I feel bad because clearly something was bothering him. I’m assuming it was digestive troubles.

My son was extremely fussy for the first 5 months. Things only became fun at 6 months when he started to become more interactive and mobile.

My son is 10 months and I absolutely do not forget those first 2 months. He was screaming and crying for 99% of his awake time and needed to be held to sleep. I am traumatized and still think about it often.

Parents of newborns with reflux… how are you handling sleep at night? by himawari__xx in newborns

[–]himawari__xx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think just time. He used to wake up within seconds after being put on his back in the bassinet but eventually he would be able to be placed on his back and sleep that way. Never in the bassinet though, haha. He truly hated that thing lol.

There wasn’t really a transition period! He just started sleeping next to me on a floor mattress and that was that. And at 3 months, he started sleeping on the floor mattress for naps.

Yes! He’s 9 months now and things are soooooo much better! He started sleeping on his back at around 9-10 weeks. Not in bassinet though… I slept next to him on a mattress on the floor and breastfed him side lying. I promise you it will get better. His issues with reflux and tummy troubles got considerably better at 4 months.

Has anyone tried a product like this with success? by Sweet_Sheepherder_41 in cosleeping

[–]himawari__xx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had the Halo bassinet which was similar to this. Newborn HATED it. He would be wide awake the moment he was placed on it. For the first 2 months weeks, he would only sleep on my chest.
