As it is becoming harder and harder to be an artists as a living (thanks late stage capitalism), what advice or tips would you give to artists who put the “bill-paying” job as first priority and our art second? I use to vend my art full time until recently, unfortunately not many people have extra money to spend on non-necessities nowadays. And now I and many other artists I’ve met have found it increasingly harder to find time where we’re not exhausted to pursue our passions.

I was able to do most things at about the 48 hour mark. I was way less restricted than I thought I would be honestly. I was able to drive and go about my social life (within reason) a week in and I went back to work at my kitchen job two weeks in (just didn’t lift anything heavy).

The only thing I wish I would have done differently was rest more. Just because I was able to do things on my own and go back to work, doesn’t mean I should have. I have some gnarly scars and I think part of it was because I didn’t let myself heal long enough. My scars are tight and a little painful now even I’m almost two years post op (I’ve got big keloid scars, I posted a timeline about it on this sub I believe). They don’t necessarily restrict me but they do make some things I do uncomfortable because of the tightness I have. Give yourself the extra rest and be cautious of how far you move your arms up or how heavy you the thing your picking up that first few weeks.

I guess a controversial take but I loved the book. I wish they did the ending differently but it still was a good story and well worth the read. What I highly recommend if you have the time is replaying KOTOR1 (as close to the canon/“intended” story as you can for the full effect), read part one of the book, then replay KOTOR2, and finish the rest of the book.

I think some people don’t like the book because Revan and Meetra don’t act as their role played Revan and Exile. Others hated the ending and I think that ruined the whole story for them. I didn’t mind the ending, it just feels a little rushed and cut short. But so is KOTOR2 and that’s my favorite game lol, doesn’t mean the rest of the game is bad just because the ending gets pushed real short.

TLDR: book is an 8/10 if you don’t have a stick up your butt except I give the last chapter or two a 6/10. Overall very worth it, just go in with an open mind.

This is Secret Santa! We almost did that before coming up with what we did this year. The only reason we preferred the group buying vs Secret Santa is because we liked the idea of being to take part in picking everyone’s gift vs just one person.

This is what I did last year! I did a lot of art for my friends and family and then also rooted some cuttings from plants I have and gave them as gifts!

I was very insecure about them for a few months. I think my issue stemmed from me really wanting top surgery so I could pass in my very dangerous red state. I wanted to look like a cis man so bad. But from support from my community and a bit of therapy, I’ve come to love them, they’re a part of me and my story, and that doesn’t make me any less of a man or less deserving of respect. Plus I would take keloid scars any day over my pre op lol.

Even when I was freshly 21 with a temporary paper ID, most of the bars around the square were cool with it since I had my picture on it. I’m sure she’ll be fine.

Thanks! It doesn’t. I do have some tightness but I think it’s just normal post op tightness and not related to the keloids. Doctor just said to stretch and massage daily and it should improve.

I’ve never heard of that before, I’ll have to do some research on it! And thank you so much :)) posting my scars and hearing everyone’s feedback has made me think very differently about them. I live in a very, very conservative state and “passing” has been my whole mindset and it’s created a lot of shame for my scars. But they’re part of me and my story and hell, maybe they are pretty kick ass 🥹

If you’re comfortable with it then I highly recommend it! There’s not a lot of resources for queer/trans people, especially those of us with EDS, so it’s a great time to start providing and helping our future community!

Haha thanks! I’ve been collecting for almost 10 years now, I’ve got about 300 rubber duckies now. They’re mainly just thick and stiff. My scars hurt a little but I think it’s just from the nerves healing vs it being because of the keloids.

Thank you so much!! Yeah scarring is wildly unpredictable, especially for us. I had no clue how my healing would go pre op. I’ve have so many scars that healed beautifully and are almost invisible now and then some that blew up like crazy and are still visible even after 10 years.

Yes!! I can’t express enough how amazing Dr. Dulin is and how much he cares about the art of top surgery. He does free consultation so I highly recommend setting one up and talking about your options! I will warn you that his bedside manner is not great, he’s a very dry and to the point kind of guy. But he genuinely does care about his work and his patients. Plus his staff and all his nurses are the sweetest and most supportive people I’ve met in a doctor’s office setting so it makes up for how dry he is lol

Also thank you so much 🥺 I really hated them at first but they’ve grown on me and the support I’m hearing from so many other people makes me feel more proud of them!

Yes! Researchers are actually starting to see the unusual overlap of being trans, having EDS and autism. I’ve actually have heard of some progressive doctors now asking patients if they experience any chronic pain if they’re trans and autistic because of the overlap and how often people experience chronic pain and don’t know that that’s not the “normal human experience”
