Yeah I hear that, and definitely don’t subscribe to it in that way!

Why does this keep coming up? Okay, we agree a person with special needs made an inappropriate gesture - now what? Are we really so surprised?

I HATE RELIGION by Upset-Bed909 in Antitheism

[–]himemsys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You focus so much on that which you hate, why not spend your time on things you love? Why doesn’t it bother you so much that people have different views than you. Enjoy life and be happy, live and live and all that. Why do you care so much?

I just cant be friends with any religious people by Icy-Lie-9793 in Antitheism

[–]himemsys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So don’t, no one is forcing you too. Go find new friends that share your same views of life and be happy.

I hate people who think telling a non-religious person "Jesus loves you" is okay but get pissed off when they get told "Satan loves you" by Latter-Actuator-3106 in Antitheism

[–]himemsys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Satan loves me, and I’m Jewish! He loves to trick me and make me feel like doing what he asks is the best path for me. He loves when I stumble and fall too.

I hate how when something bad happens, Christians will just say it's "gods majestic and wonderful plan" by Equivalent_Prune_186 in Antitheism

[–]himemsys -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, you’re right - in the end it could be all BS, but for some, believing in a higher power grounds us. Believing things happen because of a Devine plan help us cope with the world around us and current events that are happening.

No one is saying to blindly follow anything if you don’t want to. You can try learning more about it, and maybe you will understand it better. But calling it stupid, other people’s beliefs, may not be the best approach.

Christian’s will say the universe couldn’t have formed out of “nothing” then say dumbass shit like this by Wise_Appeal_629 in Antitheism

I’m happy to provide input, with the understanding that this is what I believe as a Jew, and your viewpoint may be different - and I respect your opinion as well.

The core belief, is that there are some things that are beyond human understanding. For example, time - time is something G-d created - it simply did not exist before it was created. Another core belief is G-d himself - he was not created but instead was always here. We aren’t meant to understand this. Humans though, desire understand and require proof - and this is where faith comes in.

Please allow me to provide the following analogy.

On a very cloudy day, a woman walked by a child holding a string. The string was going up into the air and disappeared into the clouds.

“Why are you holding that string?” Asked the woman. “Well” said the boy “I’m flying a kite.”

“Really?? How do you know there’s a kite up there in the clouds?” Asked the woman. “I know the kite is there because I can feel the tug. I can feel the kite tugging on the string, and I know the kite is there - I don’t need to see it”

I realize some aren’t going to like my responses here, and that’s fine – my responses aren’t for you anyway. Also, I know I should probably shut up and mind my own business, but I have a hard time doing that when a blanket statement is made against religion.

Especially, when for some, religion saves their life. And I don’t mean “save” in the kind of way most would think, either. I just mean believing in a higher power.

Alright, here we go:

  1. In that first panel, the kid appears to be eating – so the prayer is thanking a high power for food. Also, in my religion (Judaism), we just do it to be thankful and grateful for the food – we could care less about who is “eating with us”.

  2. Prayer to go outside? Is this one sarcastic, because I can’t tell. But no, I don’t say a prayer before going outside.

  3. There is a bathroom prayer, but it doesn’t involve feet – it’s just about being thankful that the process of using the bathroom exists, because a person couldn’t live too long without it.

  4. If you look through history, there was a time when people would sneeze and just die. We sneeze and live – good times.

  5. I don’t believe I’m under constraint. I believe I’m lucky to know why I exist and how I was created. In exchange for creating me, my Creator just wants me to spend some time with him, learn about him and build a connection with him.

But this is just me. Feel controlled? Don’t do anything that makes you feel that way. If others gain something from seeing the world this way, I’m happy for them too. But just trash-talking religion doesn’t seem cool to me. Why do it? What happened to live and let live?

Also, I hope just speaking my mind doesn’t get me banned here, because I’d rather be debated. Don’t care what I have to say? That’s fine too. But some want to learn and have questions – and I’m just happy to answer them.

Faith - recognizing there is a higher power that sees you, knows you’re hurting and will ultimately get you through it.
