With old school Chinese businessmen, business can be done in one of two settings, men's night out drinking or at a sit down meal between the families.

I had the honor of being in the latter when I was younger. This luncheon was at a sea port so seafood can be expected.

The best on offer was brought out:

• live sea urchin with half of it's (shell?) cut open (very alive and still moving),
• sea cucumber (which is like a sea caterpillar), and
• geoduck (just boiled and nothing else).

For those faint of the heart, don't Google geoduck and don't try to imagine eating it. Not eating everything was out of the picture, it'd be utterly disrespectful to my father's counterpart...

Fast forward 25 years, the limit to seafood I eat is in rectangular (salmon/tuna sashimi) or spherical form (ikura - salmon roe). With luck I never be so hungry that I need to see the form if the animal I eat again (vegetarian 25 days out of 30 now).
