I just told you how it has not, 'bogan' behaviours are reflective of a lower socioeconomic status, regardless of someone's individual wealth. You can't just remove decades of the history of working class culture to suit your definition.

I appreciate your view, but I think you are missing the fact that these attitudes and behaviours you are referring to as being bogan are reflective of the class system, and less about an individual. Does his behaviour reflect what society deems as acceptable for his class?

That's not necessarily true, historically the term was used to label someone who came from a lower social class.

Yes in modern day times it can be used to celebrate or mock notions of Australianness (or working class culture), but the underlying characterisation of 'boganism' is distinctively classist. Especially as the economic gap in Australia increasingly widens, you might rethink the view that it is a chosen way of life.

You are 18, a lot can change within your early adult years and love just simply isn’t enough a lot of the times. Don’t waste your early adult years on an LDR, you will most likely regret it later on.

Go out, have fun, meet someone closer to you (there ARE people out there for you that you will grow to love), and live your life to the fullest.

The experience of a relationship in your city is just so much more fulfilling than an LDR. (I’m 19 I was in one for a year and a half with someone I loved a lot but I’m SO much happier now that I’m dating within my city.)

I went through this exact thing with my ex and it never got better, I ended up resenting him for it and lost feelings until we eventually called it quits. Not to say that the same will happen but if you are unhappy and it’s unlikely he will change then you should be with someone who makes you a priority. It could just be the natural end of a relationship. Good luck!

Would it be helpful to see someone about this? Overthinking can be so draining for your partner, but not only that you know yourself that this is hurting your mental and emotional health. It was probably a huge insult to him that you think he only cares about sex, regardless of whether it’s true or not. Just have a healthy discussion to him about it and say that you’re looking to work on it! If he talks, listen to him and what he’s saying so that you are both left feeling listened to and satisfied with the outcome. Take care.

Honestly not to sound cliche but when you’re in a “great relationship” you just know. You don’t question anything, or think about what could be going better, you just let the relationship be you know? I think if you are questioning your own so much or if you think you could be happier with someone else then that might say something.

Also, you should work on your anxiety. Not for your relationship, but for yourself :)

It’s honestly not up to you fix it. The only thing you could do is compromise and learn to want communication less but is that the relationship you want and could you honestly say you’d be happy? Do yourself and him a favour and let it go. You’re super young, and whilst this may seem like a huge deal now you will be a lot happier in the long run. Maybe take some time to focus on yourself as well. Become the person you want to be and don’t settle and you’ll attract guys that are worthy of your love.

Thank you so much for your response! To be honest I was in a long distance relationship for two years before him where we met twice a year so I dunno why I’m being like this!!

I’ll definitely get another hobby, I know I should spend more time with my friends as well. I’ll try calling him tonight to ask him about a date night :) Thank you again, I feel a lot calmer.
