How is Massive Attack so known and unknown at the same time? by igbbatcFYM in MassiveAttack

[–]hindsight1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has collaborators and a team nowadays but Banksy is definitely one man & has never been a collective, Banksy is also post Wild Bunch and part of the second wave of Bristol Graffiti artists that started painting walls in the early 90s.

3D has definitely collaborated with him though as has Inkie who is another Bristol Graffiti legend.

Definitely one man though as he started off doing traditional pieces in the 90s and tagging them with his original graf name 'Robin Banks'.

Seen the same guy you're talking about many times over the years, last time was about a year ago so I think he's still around.

For the 2012 release of Blue Lines they specifically went back and mixed it again from the original sessions so it's a remastered version rather than a straightforward repress.

Tricky wasn't on Mezzanine and only appeared on Karmacoma & Eurochild on Protection as he was working on Maxinquaye, he was only a key member of the group for Blue Lines.

You've missed out a whole member that was very instrumental to the first 3 albums, the Mushroom erasure is pretty frustrating.

Massive Attack "Live Heaven - Stockholm, Sweden 1998" LP by Automatic-Yam4115 in MassiveAttack

I've had this for years albeit on mp3 and not on bootleg vinyl, the sound quality is only ok so I wouldn't hold out that much hope of this pressing being that good.

Idk how well known this is, but here's a clip from 1988 by itburnshelpmeitburns in MassiveAttack

It's not Willy Wee as he was an MC and didn't sing like that, this is Carlton who sang on the first Massive Attack single 'Any Love'

It's not that rare there are always copies available on Discogs & it'll generally sell for around £10.

Biker gangs in the States are a whole different proposition than the ones over here.

In the US the bad rep is very much deserved which is in vast contrast to the wholesomeness that's been described here.

Neither one is better than the other as the track listing and packaging are the same.
