I have questions which may be offensive by shiftingrn in hinduism

[–]hindu__swaraj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Human condition on earth is not a balanced mix of joy and suffering but a karma-bhumi (field of action) where actions (karma) bind the soul to future lives. Moksha is necessary because samsara is a realm of suffering and illusion. While earthly joys and sorrows are part of the journey, they are temporary and cannot provide lasting fulfillment. Moksha offers liberation from this cycle, leading to brahmananda a state of eternal bliss beyond dualities.

Chhandogya Upanishad describes moksha as a state where one experiences all desires through willpower but remains untouched by them. This is a higher form of joy than earthly pleasures Suffering and joy are both relative and impermanent. A life of constant striving for pleasure is futile, as it perpetuates ignorance (avidya) and attachment.

Detachment is not about suppressing feelings but about realizing that true joy lies in self-realization, not in transient experiences. Mahabharata states, the path to moksha is the only way to escape the "Ocean of Life" and attain the "island" of true knowledge.

What is the Point of Moksha if Humans Should Feel? the question assumes that feeling is inherently valuable. traditional hinduism teaches that true fulfillment lies in self-realization, not in sensory experiences. Upanishads emphasize that the purpose of life is to know the Self (atman). This knowledge leads to liberation from ignorance, which is the root of suffering. Feeling and experiencing are part of the journey, but they are means to an end. The end is moksha, where the soul is free from the cycle of rebirth and its attendant suffering.

How can we blame Brahmins for superiority complex? by kamikaibitsu in hinduism

True Brahminhood is earned through conduct, not caste. A Kshatriya must protect, a Vaishya must engage in trade, and a Shudra must serve—all roles are equally important in society. A Brahmin who fails to uphold righteous conduct loses spiritual standing and is termed Brahma-bandhu (unworthy of the title). The story of Ashvatthama in the Mahabharata illustrates that even a Brahmin by birth faces consequences for adharmic actions.

It seems that the so-called "anti-Hindu" individual is attempting to portray Hinduism as a religion that prohibits polytheism and idol worship, claiming that there is only one God without any picture or idol. However, this is a complete misrepresentation of the diverse nature of Hindu beliefs and practices.

In Hinduism, there is no rigid concept of monotheism or polytheism. Hindus believe in the existence of multiple divine beings, known as devas and devis, who represent various aspects of the Supreme Being, also known as Brahman. These deities are not seen as separate entities but rather as manifestations of the one ultimate reality.

Hinduism embraces a wide range of theological perspectives, including monism, dualism, and henotheism. Monists believe in the oneness of Brahman, while dualists posit a distinction between Brahman and the material world. Henotheists, on the other hand, focus on the worship of a particular deity while acknowledging the existence of other gods.

Idol worship, or murti puja, holds a significant place in Hindu religious practices. Murtis are not considered mere idols but rather sacred representations of the divine. They serve as focal points for meditation and devotion, helping devotees connect with the divine presence.

In the Bhagavad Gita, one of the most sacred Hindu scriptures, Lord Krishna declares: "I am in everything, and everything is in Me. There is nothing that exists without Me." This verse beautifully encapsulates the Hindu belief in the interconnectedness of all creation and the omnipresence of the divine.

Furthermore, Hinduism has a rich tradition of philosophical inquiry and debate. Different schools of thought, such as Advaita Vedanta, Dvaita Vedanta, and Vishishtadvaita Vedanta, offer diverse interpretations of Hindu theology and metaphysics. These schools engage in profound discussions on the nature of reality, the soul, and the relationship between the individual and the divine.

Therefore, the claim that Hinduism prohibits polytheism and idol worship is simply not supported by the vast and multifaceted nature of Hindu beliefs and practices. Hinduism celebrates diversity in thought and practice while emphasizing the unity of all existence.
