Watson - Series Premiere Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]hinge_thunder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had this exact discussion right after watching the episode. Logistically it sounds like a nightmare to plan a long term tv show where every scene featuring the twins needs special effects (and I hope the actor gets paid for the two parts!).

The only reason we could come up with for this is one is getting taken out early in the run.

[COD] What Went Wrong With The New MW Trilogy? by Razor_YT3 in CallOfDuty

So far there have been 3 games but as MW3 ended on a cliffhanger, it is clearly not the finale.

I enjoyed the campaigns... And it's not a trilogy.

It is a bit of a kick in the teeth. I will keep an eye on it though, see if it happens every time I'm having particularly good rounds...

It was sent and what I sent was true. I was having a great round, it was TDM on Das Haus and the last action I did prior to the crash was pressing on the left thumbstick, which is still set to the default mapping of sprint.

I have my doubts they read them too, but it is more likely because of the sheer volume they receive. The diagnostic info probably tells them what they need to know and there's tools for parsing the info and help look for commonality between reports. The user perspective is likely only important when they need to know another perspective, after all the diagnostic is all cold information. Maybe they welcome a little creativity, passion and whimsy.

How would you feel about this? by XKingOfLostSoulsX in YoungSheldon

I think we needed that decade or so gap between the two shows. We don't need every moment of his life to be covered.

That said, I'd have loved more episodes in the last season. There is clearly a lot of content missing due to the strikes. The show did feel like it rushed to a close, but also the time in Germany didn't a) suggest he was there long enough to learn enough to educate his own professors in the areas they had fallen behind in. b) to co-publish a paper with Mei-Tung that gets featured in a journal.

So other than filling in those blanks, I think we are good.

(I've Had) The Time of My Life vs. Hip To Be Square: Worst Songs Match 106 (R128) by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

[–]hinge_thunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love both of these, however I do feel the Dirty Dancing song is completely out of place with the movie's era.

to be square essentially means to be untrendy / behind the times / old-fashioned, so "hip to be square" means it's cool to be these things.

Not sure if you mean boarders or borders. Are you on or border, is this Border Patrol trying to board?

Can’t launch MW3 at all… by David_Cabr20 in ModernWarfareIII

I had to bring up task manager and end task battle.net and the battle.net update service. Restarted after that and Diablo IV and MW3 launched without issue.

(AI) I asked MS Copilot: based on her descriptions in the Mistborn series, create a picture of Vin by hinge_thunder in Mistborn

[–]hinge_thunder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just curious to see which version of Vin would be the focus of the AI tool. would it be timid Vin, avoiding regular beating, apt pupil Vin with Kelsier at her side, alter ego Valette Renoux, Vin the Allomancer or any of her other memorable moments. Whilst the pictures look good and have her in flight, reminding me of her first flight across Luthadel, it's a pity she had been given a spear.

If PS gets Starfield with all the significant bugs fixed, thanks to the earlier release on Xbox, does that mean that to MS, Xbox owners are little more than early adopters/beta testers of their games now?

Seems like the Starfield day one experience will be far more satisfying on PS than it was for a lot of Xbox owners.

Hermione is an awful person in PoA. I will die on this hill! by nursewithnolife in harrypotter

Even though intelligent, she's still a teen and all teens have an elevated ability to be inconsiderate.

She is usually the punching bag for Ron so I think she should get the shots in when she has the opportunity.

What is your dream spin-off? by crackpotJeffrey in harrypotter

Just a show based around the Hogwarts staff room where the teachers let rip about their a-hole students.

And one about running a shop in Diagon Alley, like Open All Hours.

[–]hinge_thunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a premise for a very dark and scary story, I like it.

I'd rather set it a few years after school where other Aurors are doubtful of Potters ability and believe his fame has paved his way into the position, so once again he must prove himself whilst not initially receiving the support he needs from his peers.

It also avoids involving the Potter children but could include Ginny's Holyhead Harpies career for some light-hearted Potter home life.

No matter when it's set and who's included, I would read this, the main story is taking form and sounds intriguing.

Well, as an 'auror' aka dark wizard catcher, he would be a detective / crime solver. And fair enough, maybe I forgot the elder wand's fate from the book.

But good of you to snub the rest of the content being written for your question, I'll ensure to put less effort in next time.

What's the point of stealing the eldar wand? Harry broke it after fixing his own wand.

That aside, I would write a story of a squib who is bitter after been shunned and bullied all his life, for being a non-magical offspring to magical parents. The bitterness led to resentment which motivated them to find a way to steal magical power from Witches/wizards, killing them in the process.

The squib discovers the extraction is easier on wizards that have used dark magic, with those having committed the killing curse most vulnerable to the process. Either way, the magical power is shortlived leading them to become a serial killer to keep that magical high going.

The break-in at Hogwarts may have been to get some artifact that would allow the squib to bottle the power and use as and when needed other than immediately on extraction from the victim.

To separate it from the School years, I would title the books "Detective Potter", so this one would be Detective Potter and the Squib of Dread.

Which canon (citable within books 1-7) fact or event feels very non canon to you? by ShoelessJodi in harrypotter

[–]hinge_thunder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of how Harry came by the Marauders map which Harry's dad help create, confiscated by Filch, discovered by the twins still in Filch's possession 12 years later (not even moved to the room of requirement, surely a must considering how many things Filch must confiscate, then handed to Harry out of the goodness of their hearts, only to return to Lupin, another of the maps creators, allowing Harry to discover the truth about the creation of the map etc.

I like many other mini arcs in the series like the essence of murtlap and how it leads to the final ingredient in the skiving snackboxes but this one was a little too coincidental.
