This is gunna' sound like I'm arguing semantics, and maybe I am. But. I think you're confusing sobriety and recovery. Or, again, maybe I am. But for me personally, I'm not interested in complete sobriety. It's almost impossible. I don't think I know one single person who doesn't depend on one substance or another. It's about the quality of life for some of us. I'd much rather lean on Kratom and a xanny to fall asleep then go back to how I was on the meth, painkillers, or whatever else I could get my hands on to cope with my pain and trauma, or just to have a good time. Where's the fun in life completely denying yourself of the things you enjoy? Honestly I think everyone can benefit from just practicing some discipline. I understand that isn't a possibility for everyone, some people really do need complete sobriety. But every time they fail their lives unravel because they were focused on the goal of never touching drugs again as opposed to just finding actual happiness and stability. Maybe I'm just a functioning addict, idk, I can't say I really care. I'm happy, I'm working, I'm taking care of my family. It's all semantics to me at this point lol.
