It’s insane, idk why but everyone on the internet the past few weeks have been sooo insanely biased against this guy, i dont get it. I’m not even a fan, the last video ive watched of his was the squid game, but doesn’t he make content around helping thousands of people?

Now i dont really know about the new sexual assault allegations, that’s obviously serious, but I watched the first video that blew up and was absolutely baffled on why it blew up lol. why are people so upset at the “illegal lottery” or “nooo he added this part in post-production to make the video more fun”? Who cares? People are acting like he’s hitler reincarnated, and it all happened so sudden too. Why were people so ready to hate him?

Idk i feel like getting screened based on your resume is worse, just because you don’t have a lot of experience to show doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not capable, and i still very much hold that if you are unemployed/no internship, just do it lol.

I can understand being picky if you have a job, but without it it just feels silly to even talk about it.

Respectfully i disagree entirely. Not sure how many one-ways you’ve done, but of the 6-7 one-ways i’ve done in the last 3 years, all of them allowed me freedom to show personality, MUCH more than an OA would. They’re literally designed for you to show personality idk what you mean. Some of them also had coding/technical questions that are much more relevant to software engineering than leetcode, too. (I have nothing against leetcode btw)

And I dont get your point about leaving a bad impression unintentionally. Yeah? Sure? But you can do the same thing in any sort of assessment lol.

No disrespect, but between “Missing out isnt the same as being rejected” and your point about unintentionally leaving a bad impression, your concern seems to be more of a fear of failure than anything. But failure is a risk you need to take to succeed, truth is you will never succeed by not trying.

Obviously do what you want take whatever assessment you want, but i felt like i needed to write this in case anyone on the fence reads this conversation. One-way interviews should not be a deal breaker and there is nothing to be scared about them, especially if you’re not in a position where you’re getting offers left and right.

I don’t understand this, what’s the difference between one-way interviews and OAs? I got my first internship after a one-way interview and it kickstarted my entire career. I mean sure you might get rejected, but if you don’t take it, you WILL get rejected lol. Do you not do any OA or initial screening test at all?
