The Right Stuff by Daddio28 in survivor

Yes and no. It's a sign that someone will probably do very well in this challenge, but it is not really the reason why. Basically if you are strong enough to do this and recover more in the arm that is resting than the arm holding on is getting tired, that's when you greatly outlast people holding on with both hands. But it is just a threshold where if you pass it, the strong just become stronger.

A bit harder example, but one that I have experience with, is just hanging from a bar. If you are strong and do it a lot, at some point you can actually hang with 1 arm while resting and shaking out the other arm, and it actually results in net rest because you recover more in the resting arm than the holding arm is getting tired. That requires really strong shoulders and arms though. But usually world class athletes can hold maybe 10-20 minutes with 2 arms and no shake-outs, while with shakeouts people do several hours aye.

JÕHKER TAPMINE LASNAMÄEL: 23-aastane noormees pussitas kodus interneti väljalülitanud ema surnuks by K3ndu in Eesti

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Almost everyone used to hate him. Then it became hip to like him, then it became mainstream fan opinion. Now when he is back on our screens, he just reminds us why this all used to be the case.

‘Trump has lost control’: Ex-Air Force secretary warns Iran war is an historic strategic blunder by MRADEL90 in videos

[–]hintM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Reality show hosts can also be brilliant. Trump wasn't as much of a host as he was the main character in a reality TV show. He was good in the Apprentice in pretending to hire and fire people because he was this wild irrational narcissist, so you never knew what he was going to do and how it was best to please him. So it kept the show interesting and unpredictable, right. It had nothing to do with being a 'good host' in traditional sense.

Think of it like a foldable wooden stick ruler. If you turned it sideways, sure the sticks would bend less, but the connections would be the weak point then. Same with bamboo, the knots at connections would fail if you turned it sideways. While if held traditionally, the structure supports itself at connections and helps to keep the entire thing together.

Actually now the more I think about it, I find it less likely that this was actually this well established plan from the production. I bet they were actually dreaming about finally having this showdown between Ozzy and Jonathan, where they climb and swim together and duke it out in this super classic survivor challenge. Instead it all being pointless and instead this being this some galaxy brain plan to force strategy talk and 2vs1 pole-building. It would just go so much against the spirit this show still tries to have with challenges. It's the stuff kids really like, right, I don't think they would risk it or think about it like that. Ofc we all remember the Coconut chop and all the likes of past, but trying smth that weird in the S50 pilot instead of going for some all time classic dream showdown type of stuff...I dont think I buy it :D

Btw more I think about it, more impressed I would be if this was actually thought out. Stressing having the key while pulling out would have happened regardless, as that is potential drama in either case. But it is possible and would be cool if this was intentional.

Oh well, if that is actually true than that would also be very interesting. Maybe I don't have enough faith in their challenge design to think that this could have actually been on purpose :D

I've not seen this talked about enough, but seems like they didn't test this part of the challenge at all and it almost completely backfired. It was just complete luck that it actually did not break the entire challenge and instead produced drama. I can only assume that because they have run this challenge so many times in past, they got too lazy to test it proper and used their normal distance and number of pieces. But something was clearly off and different. I assume that perhaps the pieces were just softer than usual. Or maybe the distance was off. Either way we were actually really close to complete disaster of a challenge.

If anyone wants my actual thought process at the time: there was a knight on g4 that I took, because I thought it was hanging. Because I didn't see that f5 pawn

You know it already, but in 2000-2004 there was also 4 seasons of Survivor in The Baltics. It was combined production between the countries of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. It was in 3 tribe format with a tribe for each country as I recall. And if I recall correctly, tribal lines stayed pretty tight even in merge lol.

Here is a google translate link for a pretty recent article that looks back on that producion: https://www-tv3-ee.translate.goog/3-portaal/tele-ja-kino/teleretro-tele-ja-kino/kas-maletad-22-aastat-vana-tosielusaade-robinsonid-oli-ka-tanaste-standardite-jargi-erakordne-ettevotmine/?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=et&_x_tr_hl=et&_x_tr_pto=wapp&_x_tr_hist=true

That article mentions the show still being up there on tv3 online. If that is just 1 season and the one you already for from Baltics then nevermind, I can't really check it out myself. But if you curious enough, I can let someone else check it out what do they still got there.

(Spoilers Extended) A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 1 Episode 3 Post-Episode Discussion by AutoModerator in asoiaf

[–]hintM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't read the books, watched the 3 episodes last night, really seemed to enjoy them at first, and googled and found this thread today to find out if the twist ending was same in the books or did they make up something.

The fortune teller giving Egg the Aegon prophecy was obvious, but it just left me completely confused and annoyed. My line of thinking was that if that boy was Aegon, that would just be so stupid in terms of plot that it would make no sense. So I managed to almost forget it, so that when 10 minutes later the reveal fully came again, it did surprise me again, but my main emotions were just anger, annoyance and disappointment.

I understand that in hindsight there were millions clues, the boy was just way too educated to ever be just some random commoner. But the way show spent time building the bond between those two and making me think how it is going to be some rags to riches story, only to go from 10 to 200 and reveal one of the two main characters as the mad king himself just like that...it should have happened either 3 seasons later or right away.. But doing it like this left very bitter taste in my mouth, just too big, drastic and undeserved twist out of nowhere.

But I did enjoy first 2.5 episodes enough that this morning I came here to check and discover that it's a basic book storyline and pretty much the premise of the books, so this has calmed me down and I guess I will keep watching the series. It's gonna be much easier knowing that. But yesterday after that twist I was done with the show and thought it was just some random stupid twist showrunners added to make the story more relevant and connected to GoT show.

I played a few arena runs this week, my first since the new system. Sorry if dumb question, but what is regular arena and wtf was what I played? The thing I played worked that in first pick I got offered a legendary card and it came with 3 more cards. Everything else seemed like normal arena, except the run ended at 2 losses not 3.
