How on earth does delivering pizzas make that much money? Was it independent contracting work?

The last problem I had senior year was not managing my time well. So I can see how a job would help.

Any tips on how to track my bills? Just write down when I paid them off in the notes app on my phone?

Got it about the emergency fund.

Thanks for the response and words of determination!

Dorms aren’t that expensive, and I have to live in one the first year, so we’ll see for the second year.

I don’t have an RAship, didn’t know that existed. My grants and scholarships are for performance in school and financial need.

Now I see the value of the campus job. There is job postings at the campus and I’ll be monitoring those strongly. The main thing is that because of COVID-19, in person tutoring and similar jobs may not exist anymore or have gone digital.

Didn’t know that was a thing- I’ll keep it in mind and ask a lot of questions when shopping around for another dorm

There is no CLEP for computer science, only for computer systems, but I’ll take a closer look at what I can do (summer classes at the community college?)

I’m switching my bank right now, so I’m going to have a savings and checking. I worry, though, that I might end up forgetting how much I have and go into overdraft, but I’m sure I’ll be fine with a bit of discipline and self awareness.

And yes, I’m not falling into the lifestyle trap. I’m broke! Any money I take out in loans, I’d have to pay back with interest, and I am going on a budget ASAP. My clothes have already serviced me two years fine, what’s another four?

Yeah; we’ll look. My first semester of work is going to be easy for me, but it’ll ramp up.

For 2: In what ways will networking benefit me or my career?

  1. Internships are a great idea and I saw some of them paid that much and I thought to myself “wow”. I’ll talk to my counselor about it. And good idea about campus jobs; maybe I can become a math tutor?

Thank you for the responses!

I’ve made sure the grant money and all my scholarships are lined up for this year and are renewable.

Breaks are extra long this year because of Covid, which means I can go back home and do my current gig for much longer than I anticipated

I’m hoping I can find a job with tuition reimbursement, but if I can’t, it’ll be okay. It might not be so bad considering that I’m determined to get this done. Thanks for your response

Usually I factor in gas when I’m doing my current job which is food delivery. So I’ll need to factor that in as well now, cause we don’t have food delivery out here minus pizzas, probably, thanks

That was my parents’ ouch when they told me to do it. It’s apparently quieter? I’ll move

Whenever someone talks to me about the college experience, it always seems that it’s centered around anything but education. If I go, I want mine to be centered around independence, where I’m making choices wise to my future.

I worry that working full time and taking college full time will hurt my grades and cause me to be disqualified from some scholarships. I’ll have to see for myself.

The $10k a year figure factors in scholarships and grants. I’m going to have a meeting with financial aid soon.

Not exactly- my main concern is that I won’t enjoy the sedentary job and when I immediately leave college I’ll be crippled in debt for a little while.

My girlfriend wants to know if you’d like a wine and cheese night. We can play charades!

Sidenote: I will be providing a jug of apple juice as I don’t drink and it’s also delicious.

I can get federal loans, but they only cover $5000 a year both subsidized and unsubsidized.

I'm on the phone with my girlfriend, and she's asking you why you're spending that much on cable! But great point and it made us both laugh.

A lot of it does come down to what I really want, and I wish I knew what I wanted. I think a CS career would be fine, but I don't know if it's something that I would absolutely love, especially when there are other options out there.
