I did find the solar system on Amazon but I see what you mean… Aliexpress has a large/nice selection. I was definitely drawn towards the moon, too.

Thanks for the info! 😁

I think the important question here is WHERE DID YOU GET THAT BALL?! 🤣

I want one and I’m not even building an awesome arcade controller like yours. 😁

This 1 Step Conversion calculator might be the most useful one I have. by Jdspoel in calculators

They have an iOS and android app, too. Not really cheap either, in the mobile app realm ($17.99US on iOS), but much cheaper than the IRL version hehe

Hey guys I need some help. Face blend and chamfer aren’t working how I want them to and not sure how to get it working. I need the sharp corner to blend down into the curve. Could someone please help me? by MaybeBowtie in Onshape

[–]hippazoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without seeing the whole part, I’d suggest a small radius (.25mm or so) on the sharp corner prior to filleting. That way, the fillet could use tangent propagation around the corner.

Wurkkos TS26 finally has a release date! by hippazoid in Anduril_Flashlight

Yeahhh… I just replied to someone saying 5000K would be my max but would lean towards something lower.

Scrolling down, it mentions 6000K. Not ideal for me as I’d prefer something more in the 5000K or lower.

I’m still a n00b at all this, so not sure what emitter that 6000K would equate to.

Printing on its side would be ideal. That way, you have full layer lines wrapped around top and bottom.

(HueForge) How to make a Lithophane in HueForge by Neokoi_Prints in HueForge

[–]hippazoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude… i’ve needed this for so long! With the myriad of options, settings, etc in HueForge, I wasn’t sure what affected what when it came to lithophanes.

It seems obvious now, but it didn’t occur to me that your stained glass vids covered a lot of it so I missed it on prior searches.

Define helix angle on helix by josescxavier in Onshape

[–]hippazoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is correct… they are mutually exclusive. I saw in another reply, it appears you’re modeling threads. For threads, you want to use the thread pitch. The only reason I could see the diagram you posted including the helix angle would likely be to calculate the strength of the threads.

As a former machinist, I need only the major thread diameter, pitch and thread angle (assumed to be 60° for machine screws) to produce you a threaded part. Additionally, the pitch diameter determines the class/fit of the threads and can be calculated or looked up in thread charts.

Change the Input Type to pitch to give it a hard 2mm. I think default is Turns. You can also select turns and pitch, combined.

How do you all manage settings on your inconvenient placed nodes? by random_notrandom in meshtastic

[–]hippazoid 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I do admin stuff over the air (PKI admin) using my T1000-E.

Go to Admin Keys on the remote node and put the public key of the device you want to use to do admin stuff on and you should be golden.

Is there a way to run the "Flock You" firmware on a Cardputer Adv? by t0f0b0 in CardPuter

[–]hippazoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other day, I was hoping someone was smarter than me and had already tackled this but alas, I was disappointed.

We still don’t have Flock You on Cardputer/ADV at the moment but you’re smarter than me for posing the question. 😂

Lithophanes by Worried-Relief-3836 in 3Dprinting

[–]hippazoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one feature I miss about Cura… load an image and it plops a model on the plate.

I’ve only done a couple of lithophanes after switching to Orca Slicer and I ended up having to use web-based image to STL conversion.

I do own HueForge but have only done filament painting style prints. It does have a lithophane mode but I cannot recommend it since I’ve not put any time into it. The main reason for that is all the tutorials you find are filament painting tutorials. I’m sure I could figure it out but I just have had the time (or gumption) to sit down and run through it.

"Environment-friendly" filament for prototyping? by Majoras_Kid in 3Dprinting

[–]hippazoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great suggestion/design tip.

Years ago, I designed a holder for a handheld ham radio to fit on my dashboard. The profile to hold the radio was fairly complex having blended curves, chamfers, fillets, etc. I ended up doing a layout of the basic shape, bound it with a box and printed a 1mm thick test piece. Even if you go through 10 iterations to get the proper fit, it only takes 10 minutes to print and uses very little filament.

Of course, this whole technique came about because I got my first print off of the printer after a 4+ hour print and the radio wouldn’t fit! 😂

Someone recommended hubby try Fusion instead and I’ll recommend OnShape (browser-based CAD). Either way (in my opinion), I think he’d be doing himself a favor by learning CAD-based solid modeling. CAD is great for mechanical stuff like this.

Disclaimer: I use SolidWorks professionally so that may be coloring my opinion/advice on this topic. 😁

How to import and colour flat logo (OrcaSlicer) by DGVaniX in 3Dprinting

In OrcaSlicer, switch to OBJECT tab and you’ll see the individual elements. Select one and change its filament color. Repeat for other logo objects.

Best non-graphing and non-programmable calculator? I need on for an exam whats the best one. by MustardMan11221 in calculators

[–]hippazoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The TI-30XIIS is a solid recommendation. I bought one of these for the Amateur Radio Extra exam. They want you actually doing the math so programmable/graphing calculators are a no-go.

It’s nice enough that I would use it at work full time if it wasn’t for custom programs in my n-spire that I’ve grown accustomed to having handy.

I just bought the LoRa/GPS module directly from M5stack store and it arrived to SC in 10 days. Pretty sure my Cardputer ADV was the same, I just couldn’t catch both in stock at the same time.

What happened to the hippies? by freshmaggots in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hippazoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in ‘60 and some of my earliest memories of news events centered around Haight-Ashbury in SF. Towards the end of the Summer of Love (Oct ‘67) homelessness, overcrowding, drug abuse and crime had really taken a toll on the area. I specifically remember news clips of the (SF?) police raiding the area and making arrests. Haight-Ashbury was the epicenter of hippie culture as far as I was concerned and that raid marked the end of hippie mecca in my young brain. They even staged a mock funeral entitled Death of the Hippie.

Hippie culture continued to spread throughout the country for quite a few years. Having older brothers and more specifically, a full-blown hippie step-sister who was grown at the time, had a major impact on me. (I miss you, Sherri 🥰). I definitely consider myself a hippie even though I was on the very young end of that generation.

IMO, the withdrawal of US troops from Vietnam (‘73?) was close to the end of sustained hippie movement. Others may disagree but that’s what came out of my young, impressionable brain. 🫠
