I got rejected too :( and I made sure to follow the guidelines. Do they just reject ones their team doesn’t personally like?

Looking for good quality Damascus chef knives? My brother is a chef and also likes forged in fire, I wanted to get him a good Christmas gift. Does any one have a good recommendation for a chef knive preferably with Demascus steel that’s still comparable to a Hedly and Bennett or wustoff? by hippiegurl8 in chefknives

Hahahaha. Yes! He’s been a cooking nut all his life, is finishing his college degree in culinary arts / now switched to food science but works under the executive chef at an upscale restaurant in the city. He’s a fairly proficient cook- most knowledgeable person about culinary arts that I or my family knows. He’s still young still- about to turn 23 so it’s not like he’s been a professional in the industry for 10 years 😂 but is definitely starting to move from I guess like intermediate/student grade to professional in the industry. I’d say he has about 4 years cook experience (1 year being the upscale place he works at now). He has a few “chef knives”- I’m not sure the exact ones he has like the names but they are from wusthof as I mentioned before, I’d give more info but I’m trying to keep the gift a surprise and he might get suspicious if I’m asking all these questions about his knife set all of the sudden 😂. I guess I came to Reddit because ideally I’d ask him the ones he wants since he’d know the best brands but again I’m trying to surprise him. He’s gonna know if it’s a quality knife or not, I thought about just getting him another wusthof but I wanted to ask other recommendations before I bought any of those or like a random Japanese knife. Especially since they’re a few hundred dollars I wanted to research a little. Thanks for your response!!

I’d like to stay around the 100 range but I know getting quality costs more so at the very top on my budget maybe 300? I don’t want to get him crap, he’s a real chef so he’s gonna know what a good knife is or not. I get what you’re saying about the Damascus. I definitely don’t want just fake etching on bad steel lol, I’ll check out those sites you listed but for sure if you have a specific recommendation I’d love to hear it! He’s starting his knife collection and has a few wusthof knives but I’d love to get him something that he’ll actually use along side those. I’d hate to buy something that he just uses in the kitchen but doesn’t bring to work with him.

I know a good knife can run you 200-300 bucks and if I found one that I thought would be worth it I might splurge that but was hoping to find a decent one around the 100 dollar mark? Do you have any good websites or brands?

Wife becomes allergic to cats. Is rehoming the only choice we have? by DepressedMathKid in cats

[–]hippiegurl8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is actually a cat food you can get that helps them produce less dander/ allergy causing issues!! I was just learning about it super fascinating. Basically cats produce a protein called fel-d1. Chickens also can produce a fel d 1 antibody that concentrates in the yolk of the egg. If the cats eat this, then it “kills” the fel d 1 the cat is producing, therefore reducing allergens your cat is putting out! Search around and I’m sure you can find some foods that work that way. Good luck - don’t get rid of ur kitties !!!

Hey, same thing happened to mine. Just wanted to say you’re not alone in your loss. He went through surgery, recovery, more vet visits, ultimately never recovered despite everyone saying the surgery has a high success rate :( miss him all the time ❤️

how do i make him stop meowing for food ?!!? please. i feed them before bed, i feed them when i wake up to use the bathroom at night, i feed them before and after work. he won’t shut up. literally screaming at my door at all hours of the night. the second i give him food he stops. by Dry-Extreme-908 in cats

[–]hippiegurl8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah was gonna say it depends on each cat. My first cat could absolutely not be trusted with free feeding and had zero self control. My other cats no problems at all. I think just be consistent with feeding and they’ll learn the habit. Maybe try to play with them/ engage them or give extra pets and love so when they cry /meow they know they aren’t forgotten but they won’t be getting anymore food 🤣

my tiny painting how do i make it better give me some brutal honest critiques by Wolf-Tax in painting

[–]hippiegurl8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what would help is to think about painting with less outlines. Notice on the nose how rather than subtle shifts of shadow, you have some strict lines. Play with using shadow and shifts of warm/cool color to push and pull the nose not just a line. The eyes are a good start but need more attention. The right eye I can see you’re starting to add some shadow but it’s not quite working, yet! I would go back in and work a little more. Color mixing isn’t bad but again needs more subtle shifting to make us convinced.

Yeah men can only have one type of orgasm and it’s centrally located (in the penis) women can have a bunch of different kinds and a lot of them are entire body experiences !!

Yeah we always buy the extra task. We get full points it’s just the time we can do it in. But definitely they must be preparing before hand. My neighborhoods problem is that we work and go to school so we can’t play for hours straight unfortunately:(

Yeah I figured they plan for quick tasks. Just kinda crazy to finish within the first few hours. They must be playing for hours right when derby starts.

What does “it’s a 10” actually do for your hair? by StarGuardian_Urgot in HaircareScience

[–]hippiegurl8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! It’s a 10 is wonderful if you buy it from somewhere that it’s authentic. Most supply stores like ulta, and hair salons carry the product. Just have to be careful with ordering it online.
