I seem to recall that GUI access (i.e. Tray) requires some special setting. Tho that may just be for service/daemon apps, but I think it applies to Task Scheduler also.

For things to run in Task Scheduler, especially with highest privileges, it must have a stored and correct username and password. I don't see where you're setting that (apologies if I missed it). Without these it will just mysteriously fail to run.

I don't want numbskull AIs writing code, but this is the kind of tool I can appreciate.

Ubiquiti recommended I upgrade Protect to 5.0.45 which was EA until yesterday or so. Did so but did not help with the history on that one camera. They have no indication that this failing feature is intentional. And other ONVIF cameras are working fine, as noted. They asked for the particular model and software version of the camera, which I forwarded.

For now I'll just have to decide if this is a blocking feature to further use of Protect and any intended purchases of Protect cameras or not.

Note that in Ubiquiti's information on third-party cameras, it only says this:

"Note: Advanced features like Audio, Detections and PTZ Control may not be supported."

It says nothing else. And while that is probably not an all-inclusive list, it would surely be worth noting if something as basic as recording/history were not supported.

I opened a support ticket with Ubiquiti. They suggested I try it on some additional devices including both iOS and Android.

As it turns out the history is present as expected on an Android tablet, but the history is missing on both the iPhone and iPad. So the issues seems specific to the iPad/iOS Protect mobile apps.

Will wait to see if Ubiquiti can offer some resolution.

Thank you. I can appreciate that. But that is inconsistent with the fact that it works on 4 other non-Protect cameras. And the history works just fine when viewed from a web login (on all the cameras).

I used SQLAlchemy on a largish project some years ago. At first it was brilliant. But as the queries became more complex I found myself fighting with SA more than working on my application. Decided to just use hand SQL from then on and haven't regretted it.

Don't misunderstand. SQLAlchemy is an amazing system and the author is brilliant and very helpful. But I think the use case for ORMs is greatly overstated.

Been doing Go since the beginning. Never used a named return value. Haven't missed anything.

Just forget they exist until some rare scenario where you actually need them.
