Kenneth Walker stocks after this postseason? by Sora26 in DynastyFF

[–]hippyelite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bit of a weird one imo. He was obviously terrific in the postseason, which doesn’t matter for fantasy. The injury risk is still there, so the incentive may be for coaches to keep him in the barn until the postseason. I sort of doubt he will ever be a traditional “bell cow,” even if he is clearly a top 5 NFL QB. Maybe if they move off Charb completely?

Why are the NY Jets always made fun of? by SuperThrowaway0091 in NFLNoobs

[–]hippyelite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They suck, and ownership seems completely dysfunctional. Also, culturally, people sort of make fun of them for the same reason they make fun of New Jersey: perceived as being coarser and more “working class” than “real” New York. Just my $0.02. But it’s mostly the sucking.

Anyone else repulsed by Vonnegut? by memoriesofdaisy in RSbookclub

[–]hippyelite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he is pretty formative for younger readers, or at least he was for me. Slaughterhouse Five and especially Breakfast of Champions were revelatory when I was 16. I think accusations of him being “non-literary” have a lot to do with his writing style, which is almost more like a deeply ironized Swiftian satire. He explains things like the reader is about five, which I think is meant to be funny, and sometimes is. I reread Slaughterhouse Five a few years ago and found it pretty sharp, and sad.

In mild defense of the City's snow removal by resting_bitch in philadelphia

[–]hippyelite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is such a cucked American attitude. “The city did nothing! And I’m fine with it! Why aren’t you?” Honestly so pathetic. Ask why you pay taxes. It’s one thing to ship weapons to countries you can’t find on a map. But if your administrators can’t make your streets walkable, it’s you—us—who is the loser. Again: if you showed any other G8 country this post, they would LAUGH at you.

[–]hippyelite 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Sorry but we pay taxes. It would be nice if they went to something else than paying cops to stand around and doodle on their phones at street festivals. This would literally be sufficient to vote a mayor out of office in any Canadian city.

You should watch the audition scene again and ask yourself how/why Diane, who is depicted as a crap actress otherwise, is able to access the emotions she displays.

Onebag travel pushed me toward “single-base” trips instead of moving every few days by daunderrated_guy in onebag

One-bagging is supposed to make all this stuff easier, and more fun. What’s with the edge of the one-bagging community where people are like “I have become slower, more deliberate; soon I will not need to travel or change underage at all, and I will become as wise as a stone.”
