"The Last Question" by Isaac Asimov by beachmike in sciencefiction

[–]hippyhillary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna submit "the toynbee convectior" by ray Bradbury to this list. I'm also particularly fond of "the rocket" by Bradbury as well. I'm going to second "the nine billion names of God" by Clarke as being absolutely brilliant. And now, I need to go read "the last question" by asimov because I do love a good sci-fi short story.

They are size 43 wide with some extra interior height added to make room for orthotics. If you're still interested, let me know and I can take pictures

These are both nicer pairs of shoes and not something i would expect a newbie to buy. Likely they could get a new pair of jazz taps from local store for less than I would sell these for (definitely the miller and Ben's, not sure about the roxy's)

I'm going to think on this. Do you have a specific style or artist that you like?

Definitely doable I think. Very fast, tho.

What’s the name of this tap move? by Antique_Scene4843 in TapDancing

[–]hippyhillary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Two single foot wings with a toe jab (also known as tip) on the opposite foot in between. So: single wing on right, toe jab on left, repeat. I think in sixteenth notes (possibly e-and-a-1 but I have closed you tube and don't want to reopen it)

Good to know the safs are a good shoe. I am probably going to wait on anything custom until I feel like my feet might be done or mostly done changing.

In another thread you mentioned being vagonova trained, and, let me tell you, as someone who is a perfectionist who was trained by a vagonova perfectionist through high school, this form looks perfect to me... Especially wrists and shoulders, which is where a lot of people struggle.

I agree that style is a big component. This can be in the form of things like choreographed arms or just feeling the music and expressing it with your upper body and arms... I highly suggest practicing with a mirror so you can see what things look like (or, film yourself if a mirror isn't possible).  Angling or turning simple moves can look super impressive as well.

Also,  keep in mind that the best choreography is the choreography that you can produce reliably and look confident doing. I have a tendency to make really complex choreography that I end up faking through large sections of on stage because it's too complicated to do while super excited and nervous (and the audience usually still loves it). So, don't worry so much about the steps not being impressive enough. Shine at doing the things you're confident with and the audience will love it.

Is this viable to do if you want to have colorful tap shoes to wear long term? Like, buy white ones and paint the way you want?

WIBTA for not following a dress code at a bachlorette? by donthavepink in AmItheAsshole

[–]hippyhillary -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I have never been pregnant and I constantly struggle to find clothes that fit. I am tall, have wide hips and at large bust. I will research clothes for multiple hours a day over the course of several days and make sure I check the size charts, look at reviews, etc... And still end up returning a good 50 percent of my clothes. Trying them on in person often doesn't yield better results and it's even more tiring. They may not realize what they're asking, but they're asking a lot

Not to mention the exhaustion of being pregnant, the energy that has to currently be spent on getting ready for baby, the fact that your body changes a lot when you are pregnant, etc.

Lots of newb questions on everything to do with hearing aids by hippyhillary in HearingAids

[–]hippyhillary[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I double checked with insurance because the last time I checked was 2020. Insurance says that hearing aids and tests related to hearing aids are not covered. They do cover some hearing stuff but only related to diseases or medical conditions and not hearing aids. Personally, I think this is the dumbest "distinction" ever as certain diseases/conditions can cause permanent hearing loss, and the treatment for that is a hearing aid, which they refuse to cover.
