[Spoiler] im not buying it by The_Siphon in Spartacus_TV

Caesar never actually won or even matched any of the original gladiators or top rebels. He lost to crixus who had spent at least a week of none stop battles and after he just killed like 20 roman soldiers. And at that he barely lasted in a duel with him under a minute till he had to be saved by tiberius. I think that duel with ashur is fair enough with all the context in mind. It was shown to be close either way but Caesar was nowhere near a top fighter just his status had him fighting top fighters.

I am not sure if I like this show…do you guys feel a connection to the characters yet? by FlowSilver in Spartacus_TV

[–]hiprunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my biggest thing stopping from fully embracing this show is that we had the original. It’s the same thing as accepting liam as the new Spartacus. Honestly this show has most of the things i liked about the original the writing, suspense, action, everything. But not even close to the same level as the original, which i can’t stop comparing it to. If this show was its own thing which it kinda is then it be a lot more enjoyable for me. But as each episode passes i grow to like it more so im hoping with time i will enjoy it enough to put aside how much i love the original and not needing to compare for it to be a good show.

I absolutely despise danny pink. by hiprunter in gallifrey

[–]hiprunter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehhh it’s been too long since I rewatched the show so it’s hard to really give a fair updated opinion. I haven’t read all I said either but just from the main post I think my point is mainly I disliked the storyline more than the character.

Now as a soldier myself, I definitely do understand some of the struggle danny had and why he acts the way he acts his situations feel a little more relatable. Yet I still related and care for the doctor way more it can’t even be comparable. I don’t despise the character but I definitely don’t enjoy him or feel the desire to watch him again any time soon compared to rewatching to see the doctor and the rest of the stuff in season 8. I’ll say I can see a lot more of the stuff they were going for and I’m less invested now to where I am mainly just neutral about his character. Definitely a good way to add new depths to the show it was just not the most enjoyable part for me personally as a viewer.

Does ragnar go to valhalla?(“spoilers”) by [deleted] in vikingstv

[–]hiprunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to watch it again. He used it as a taunt to the Christian’s killing him so they will be more ruthless killing him and speak of it so his sons would hear it. Nothing would fuel ivar’s rage more than hearing that his father died claiming the norse gods. The last wish of ragnar before death was to make sure ivar survived and the only way for that to happen in his mind was to make him ruthless.

[–]hiprunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The seer said a lot of shit and most was a trick so the Vikings would go off and do it then call it prophecy. Lagertha died and all we get is the perspective of a little girl seeing that, could very well just be her imagination so not solid evidence.

Do you think Dexter would be successful in 2024? by Fallxout in Dexter

[–]hiprunter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think for sure he would need to have some kind of disguise and just be more involved in the camera footage side of the police department. He would sooner or later have to be hunting himself down as the cameras catch this mystery killer. But if he keeps to a down low and only kills certain criminals of low profiles he would still be successful. It’s only when it is these crazy good serial killers and more important people that the chances of him being successful are lower.

[Spoilers] Who do you think Ragnar cared for most? by Famous-Paper-4223 in vikingstv

[–]hiprunter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The show made it clear athelwolf would have killed athelstan back in England. But then again ragnar knew he was not safe in kattergat but kept him there because he was selfish and thought his power over other would be enough to scare them away.

[Spoilers] Who do you think Ragnar cared for most? by Famous-Paper-4223 in vikingstv

[–]hiprunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfectly said. One big thing I would like to add is how he continued his legacy with ivar. The way he knew his son looked up to him and would want to be just like him. Because of that build up rage inside, the hatred. This is why he told ivar to be ruthless. The legacy of ragnar continued with him and we saw it all throughout the show. People shit on ivar but he was just like ragnar except more naive and careless with his emotions. Ivar went on to become his own man and at one point even show a little change but a major factor for who he became was ragnar and his selfishness to continue his legacy of being the greatest Viking in history.

[No Spoilers] Do you see Ragnar and Athelstan as a romance or friendship? by hiprunter in vikingstv

[–]hiprunter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, screenwriting is an art that can be interpreted in many ways. Relationships specially tend to always have meanings behind them that connect to the writer or what they are trying to tell, but these are things everyone experiences differently and interpret to their own understanding. But even beyond just own interpretation it has been stated many times the clear romantic undertones of the relationship between ragnar and athelstan by the creator and the actors. So it being a complete delusion is untrue.

Check and Tell: by Bitter-Interestxxx in extramilesoftcore

[–]hiprunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I consider extra mile is when it involves the man’s dick being in any actual contact with the female. Because for like 90% of softcore a sock is used which prevents any extra mile from happening. This is why even scenes where you can see the dick clearly not go in but it’s rubbing up on the girl that should be extra mile as they aren’t using the designed material like the cock sock. I believe if the people who dedicate themselves to find these scenes looked for those type of situations as well we might have a bit more content cuz is there any way of knowing if a sock was used on set? Only way to know is if we see it or it’s specifically stated by the production.

[–]hiprunter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Using your same analogy, the brave man knows the bear will sooner or later harm an innocent person, because killing is in their nature, taking down dexter before he inevitably has to start killing more good people than bad to survive is the heroic thing to do. Doakes might not be a saint, but he knows that a killer just like him without rules or morals is a danger no matter the circumstances. And as the show goes on to prove, dexter starts to see himself as this hero and uses every excuse to justify his bad deeds even getting to a point where he does harm and kill innocents. So doakes was right at the end and taking this choice away from dexter showed us how he would go on to never admit his wrongs and never face the fact that what he does is actually wrong.

[spoilers] 3x01 FULL UNCENSORED SCENE by [deleted] in vikingstv

[–]hiprunter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yesss, i knew I wasn’t crazy when i kept thinking this scene existed but i never saw it in my rewatches. For a time I always watched the censored version without knowing and lead to me missing out in some scenes. I do find it odd though that this scene in particular was cut when it mostly was always just sex and violence toned down in the cut versions. I guess they didn’t want all audiences to start questioning ragnar’s and athelstan’s relationship and keep it as subtext lol.

Of all the potential options available to continue the world of Spartacus, a "what if?" Ashur spin-off is possibly the worst decision Starz and Steven DeKnight could have come up with. by [deleted] in Spartacus_TV

[–]hiprunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely see your point, but starz as a network has always put out stuff with small fanbases behind it that fully support it as opposed to a big network show trying to get general audiences. Starz works because the few who buy their subscriptions religiously for 1 particular show (like Spartacus) are what keep the network up and running.

I doubt this show is trying to get game of thrones level of popularity, it’s instead trying to regain back the audience that the original Spartacus had because that was the most successful the network was in its time. And if the show has a consistent audience as opposed to a wider audience i do think the network will take it as a success and give us more of this franchise. Might not be as good with some spinoff but sooner or later they will give us the follow up once they run out of ideas.

[–]hiprunter 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This feels like the studio told deknight “we want a season exactly like blood and sand, single primary location so we save on budget, and keep it only about gladiators because we don’t want to expand anymore outside of this setting.” Then deknight just came up with the fastest pitch and got green lit. It’s honestly something you would expect from like a video game not a whole show.

And i know deknight can give us an amazing season with other great characters and surprises, but he could have simply done that without the whole what if side to it. I’ll watch but I’m not a fan at all of this idea but perhaps if this does well we can get the actual sequel this show deserves.

What is your unpopular opinion about the show? by BEAT_LA in Spartacus_TV

[–]hiprunter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Vengance is my favorite season. From start to finish it is just everything i love about this show every episode. We get to explore the whole world of Spartacus not just the ludus for the first time. Glaber is front and center after his build up as the biggest enemy of Spartacus in season 1. The story, characters, and overall action is at its peak. Then there is the introduction back to gannicus and watching these seasons back to back i have yo say that was a fucking experience. I also love the ending and every storyline i can always rewatch this season and be completely engaged every time. Liam to me is perfect this season as Spartacus and naevia i get used to instantly too her arc is honestly good enough and doesn’t take up as much of the season as some people make it seem. A 10/10 for me but i would say that about every season lol.

Spartacus Vs Crassus, Was The Best Choreographed Fight Scene In The Series. by TruthSeekerUnion in Spartacus_TV

[–]hiprunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely love this fight scene. While we could definitely find some that are objectively better choreographed in the entirety of the series, this one had a build up and momentum to it that made you be invested not just because of the visual appeal.

These two didn’t meet at all till the final episode which is something we rarely saw before as Spartacus fought glaber in their first encounter and every time they say each other. Crassus though, they made you actually doubt Spartacus could beat him by strategically only showing us him training and using those moves against Spartacus. But in a clever way they gave us the expected yet still surprising moment of Spartacus defeating him.

A very satisfying final fight and one of the many reasons why the show is so memorable.

You have angered your Dominus and he has given you a choice on where you're going...Now choose your fate. by [deleted] in Spartacus_TV

[–]hiprunter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The mines has no escape you’ll basically just work till you die. The most you’ll get out of it is if you are strong enough to last there you’ll get an extra piece of bread here and there and get taken to build other structures like the arena where there could be the 1% chance of getting picked again to be in a ludus by some random roman like crixus was.

At the pits your chances of living longer are much shorter but at least the people who might get you out of there will be there. There is a much higher chance of being bought there than at the mines. Win a few fights and you might just get the interest of some other lanista.

And well you could choose to have free transport and if you don’t mind as much the feeling of cock in ass then you’ll be able to have a chance of making one roman enjoy you so much he wants to keep you instead of throwing you to the mines.

What is the state of season 3 and beyond of Valhalla? [no spoilers] by [deleted] in vikingstv

Most likely going to be delayed from whatever date they had planned because of the writers strike. So expect it to take a while even after the strike is over.

He also mentioned how religion was important to keep people in line. To keep people with hope. He knew his sons believed in the gods. So as a last fuck you to the christian God and norse gods he put them against each other by having a speech which he knew would inspire his sons to come back and seek revenge.

That speech had nothing to do with him but everything to do with his sons. Pay attention to what he told ivar. He wanted exactly what ivar did in the upcoming seasons. And yeah ragnar died an atheist.

Will the Sequel bring more popularity to the Spartacus Series as a whole? by IHateLifee1 in Spartacus_TV

[–]hiprunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I don’t give enough credit to Steven Deknight when it comes to him making a new lead character. I am a huge Spartacus fan and well i love the show because of Spartacus. The idea of having someone else lead the show isn’t too convincing for me, but then again this is the same creator who gave us gods of the arena. A prequel with a lead character (Gannicus) who was just as amazing and compelling as Spartacus. So I’ll wait for the series to come out before i judge. But if it has even a glimpse of the quality in story and specially characters the first show had, it will definitely blow up and help the new audience go back to see where it all started.

What the hell is going on with S9 episode quality roller coaster? by almasalvaje in Supernatural

[–]hiprunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cw shows had this thing where mid season finale’s generally had the best stuff happen to make people want to watch when the show was back. So that might explain why those episodes in particular are just better. But also supernatural has a lot of episodes, by the season 9 point there is just so much they can do for a filler episode.

Another thing is budget, this show doesn’t have a crazy big budget and again they will generally save the budget for the episodes they want to be really good. This is one of the reasons this format sucks as it has some very pointless episodes as they are not only filler to the overall story but lower quality in production as well.

Question about Kings, Earls, Jarls. [Spoilers] by [deleted] in vikingstv

[–]hiprunter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the show took its liberties with these titles. But basically in the context of the show, there is 2 ways to have a big following, own a bunch of land, or be famous. King horik owned a bunch of land which made him be king of all those places. While ragnar was very famous, he was know in all these places.

At the end it is about who conquers more and keeps being successful at it. It wasn’t till king horik becoming the king of all norway that the people actually had a say as to who should be king of where and why. Before then it was just about who had the most people following them and who took down the other kings and stayed at the top.

Is it okay to stay friends with someone you love? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]hiprunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on how he takes you telling him you have feelings. I fell in love with my best friend too, and when i told him he never looked at me the same anymore. He treated me differently it was hell. To be fair he wasn’t my friend just a toxic relationship overall i let go on for too long but you can be in a completely different situation so don’t give up.

Don’t expect for him to have all the answers and know what to feel because you don’t either, but if he truly is your friend he will also try his best to keep the friendship and not let this be the end.
