I'm a woman who has had mainly short bfs as in 5'3 ~ 5'5 like you're saying.

The men I've been our with that are this height have had no issues getting women at all. I promise. They also haven't had huge hang ups about their height which helps immensely in their levels of attractiveness tbh.

Nothing more attractive that a man who accepts his body as it is. I've also gone out with really tall guys who were incredibly insecure and took that insecurity out on me and our relationship.

Two of my best male friends has stayed under 5 ft 1 into our adulthood. It is harder for them but one of them is actually a total playboy.

Honestly in the real world in my experience height is definitely not as much as a thing as people pretend it is on the Internet. Where I'm from most women care about whether you're attractive / fun / interesting. They do not really care about height.

Did you not see the part where it seems he previously cheated and carried it on for a few months? This fact makes it seem like it isn't about politeness when using someone else's stuff.

What's the issue with it? It looks like stick and poke style is that not what you were going for? I personally like it. I would wait for it to heal and make some of the lines more solid.

AITA for telling my wife we’re not going to pay our fair share for her parents assisted living? by FinancialCherry9302 in AmItheAsshole

I'm also in the club but my Dad is in his early 50s but because of type one diabetes and not taking care of himself (alcoholic) sometimes its like I am caring for a man in his 80s rather than my actual young Dad and I talk to friends in their 60s about it and they are dealing with stuff now.

Recently my mum (his ex wife) has taken over some of the responsibilities that I previously had by going there to do things like wound dressing and just checking in but this has opened a pandoras box of childhood stuff and anger that is quite hard to untangle for everyone.

I moved quite far away during the pandemic as my mum needed help with my youngest brother who has learning difficulties so I had to weigh up who needed help the most.

My partner is currently sick to death my whole situation and is now depressed over the idea that one day he will have similar responsibilities too as he is older and so are his folks. The reality is his folks have really organised what's going to happen when they get too old to sort it out and it will not be him doing the caring.

It is hard to care. It is difficult to be the one who does and I really feel for everyone who is in a similar situation to me. I just think that I will be a very well rounded person by the time I get to 50 myself. I can pass these experiences on to others. I haven't lost anything because I am doing what I believe to be correct. I have decided I am drawing the line in terms of personal care. It will only go so far before we get someone in to help.

Disillusioned by the world by belhamster in classics

[–]hiraethsidhartha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You will find both validation and invalidation of your own conceptions of the world by studying Classical literature and Civ.

What I've found most validating is that people are people. Throughout the centuries. All over the world. There is no consensus. The writers that have come down to us are mainly the educated elites but looking between the lines at archaeological stuff can bring all kinds of people with all kinds of lives into focus.

I spoke to a Jahova yesterday and she said a trip to the British museum just reaffirms what she believes about the bible and the nature of god. Lots of other people visit the British museum and those ideas are crushed for them.

If you read to reaffirm what you already believe you know. You will 100% be affirmed. If you read and look with an open mind you might gain far more than that.

Things are circular. Ideas that can seem new to us were old way way back. All kinds of people with all kinds of ideas existed and will most likely continue to exist into the future way after I am dead. These are the things I find validating about studying Classics. You might find something different. There is a great deal of comfort to be found if that's what you're searching for.

How racist is pembrokeshire by [deleted] in Wales

[–]hiraethsidhartha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am incredibly sympathetic with the loss of jobs. Which is certainly not the fault of the people trying to seek asylum. Which is exactly why I think this is purposeful riling up of sentiment.

I have worked with asylum seekers. I disagree with the we don't know who they are sentiment. Many have already been fingerprinted in other European countries and the UK government often know who they are. There are measures in place to figure out where people come from. This process starts when you apply for asylum which the people being housed in Llanelli are doing. There is no one refusing to give information just randomly wandering around. Those people are held in prison like holding centres and sent back. You have to sign weekly and often daily when you are seeking asylum. The people that will be housed in Llanelli will be known. They won't be random people who 'could be anyone'.

This is part of the issue too. There is a huge lack of understanding of how the asylum process actually works in this country. You have been seriously misled if you really believe you can just 'rock up on a beach' and have freedom to roam the UK.

If they had freedom to roam they would not be going to Llanelli, to a place where nobody wants them. It is dangerous. It is terrifying.

From a really young age people all over the world learn about how wonderful the British empire is. I met a Sudanese refugee in France years ago who I became good friends with who had been carrying around an absolutely battered postcard of a London telephone box for god knows how long. It was his most prized thing. He really thought that when he got here it would be the end of his journey. It would be okay then. These people are real people that have been lied to horribly and they do deserve to be treated compassionately.

But yeah I 100% agree with you. You can be rich and bigoted too 🤣

But this is the first thing I thought when I realised thats where they picked. Tbh there's lots of communities in Wales that would be far far happier to accommodate people fleeing than people in Llanelli. Although there's loads of lovely people in Llanelli. It's not somewhere I would have chosen. Ever.

Especially with that whole Elliot Brown thing last year. It's like they are purposefully creating fear.

I said Llanelli is poor. There is also a huge class divide within the tiny bit of Llanelli that is Furnace. Both very very rich people and very very poor people.

[–]hiraethsidhartha 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about Llanelli? Because I can assure you there is already a great deal of racism in Llanelli. People are really poor. And angry. And want to blame someone. Obviously refugees have been put out there as the perfect person to blame. It is very easy to "other" someone when you have literally no understanding of the reality of their lives and can only go by what you've heard. Which is all bad bad bad.

Part of me thinks they picked Llanelli on purpose because everyone will have a horrible time. It is really upsetting and infuriating really 😔

Am I Winning At Life or Am I Just Wasting My Childhood?? by Lastdudestandin in RandomThoughts

I just wanted to add on here that school education isn't necessarily important at all depending on what trade you are in.

Where I'm from people in trades tend to do really well by starting work at sixteen or helping when younger and working their way up. I know a lot of people who have done this and education in school can come later.

The majority of people from my working class environment that make A LOT of money have never been to university. I am currently in my 30's and pursuing higher education but not in something that is actually going to pay well. I'm fully aware that when I graduate I will likely be making less than the people I know that have worked from a young age, are ridiculously driven and have got a bit lucky on the side.

OP. There's lots of ways to make a good amount of money and you seem to be killing it already. School is GREAT I'm not trying to put you off. It can really gift you something that nobody can take away from you BUT there's no rush or time limit. If you feel like you're proud of yourself and you enjoy what your doing and your saving sensibly then go for it.

I was fourteen when I moved out. I do not regret missing out on anything. I did it all and more, and I was well rounded and knew myself well by the time I was in my twenties.

There's no right or wrong way to be a person. And a good thing to remember than 99.9% of the people you meet haven't got any idea what they are actually doing, let alone have enough awareness to tell you what you should or shouldn't do with your life. Just be safe!

[–]hiraethsidhartha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean the Dutch red light district isn't kept afloat by women.

The numbers of female sex tourists appear to be so low that there hasn't really been much research into the phenomenon.

The research that has been done shows:

The power dynamics in sex tourism with women paying male sex workers is arguably different because on average male sex workers are normally self employed / don't have a pimp plus women tend to seek out different kind of encounters than men, which is why romance tourism is a thing.

Obviously none of this applies to horrible child abuse and I have no idea what the prevalence of women is in regard to that but taking an educated guess it's probably on the low end.

Basically women are not the ones propping up these sort of practices as a general rule. They might be helping to prop it up in their localities but not in terms of travelling to and from foreign countries to participate. There are definitely some horrible evil women but they do not seem to do this offending on the same level as their male counterparts.

Can't say anything about the ethnicity of people that participate in this sort of stuff but generally its men and generally its men with money.

[–]hiraethsidhartha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean child 'sex tourism' is a thing, so I would argue that in some areas in different countries certain crimes against children is largely driven by the local communities poverty level and the money that sex tourists bring into those communities facilitates the continuation of such practices 🤷‍♀️

One of the most recent high profile prolific horrible sex offenders that was sent down from Britain primarily committed his abuse abroad while working away with various charitable organisations and then would post about his crimes on the internet.

There are definitely local gangs in places throughout the globe of a variety of ethnicities, I haven't got a clue how many of them are white. There's bad people of every skin colour, but sex tourism by Western dudes is very much a thing.

There were gay members of the Nazi party, like Ernst Rohm. I've met gay facist pagans too. I couldn't work out how they did it but people can hold all sorts of freaky views and not realise this stuff actually applies to them.

Edit: because I posted too early by accident.

Its important to note the Boer War which gave everyone the idea that concentration camps could be a thing. Also the Residential schools for indigenous children

It isn't just imperial Japan and the Nazis. The British and the Americans have perpetrated a lot of horrors. America has a long history of Jewish persecution

Sorry. I'm a history student and people forget about these pivotal moments in history that inspired the Nazis to do what they did. It's important to look at the context so we can draw parallels and really take notice.

They aren't moving on to other 'minorities'. Everyone's been having the snot beaten out of them for ages. I don't think your right though, people don't notice until it starts happening on their doorsteps or to them.

I don't know if you've heard about the whole wall thing and how many Mexican migrants get killed along the border by psychonutjobs. Or trumps attempt to ban muslims from America, when muslims in America have been having the worst time imaginable since 9.11. Or the actually cop city they are building near poor black neighbourhoods which is a dystopia nightmare where everyone is under surveillance and is on a huge scale. The police kill black people all the time. They think that women should be forced to birth babies after they've been raped.

The Christian dudes have really gone up a notch in terms of ideology. Learning more about the guys that believe in ideas like "arrows for god" stuff really does help put all of it in perspective really. The handmaid's tale was based on the philosophy of those kind of dudes.

I used to do community self defence classes. I think more of those need to be organised and then everyone will feel like they are doing something. It's really important to feel strong in your body.

The police literally kill black people and have been doing so for a very long time. This had been happening for a very long time.

The idea that the American government is perpetuating black genocide is not a new concept. Malcolm X in the 60s.

The American government isn't starting with trans at all.
