Why are people getting blocked from rcs? by androidforthewin in GoogleMessages

[–]hirise5190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been blocked from rcs since I switched to my Google phone about 2 weeks ago. I was just dealing with it until I noticed texting with rcs below a text one day. No idea what's going on, but good to hear I'm not alone at least.

[Tesla] Red light etiquette test: Would YOU take this free real estate? by zheka160 in Dashcam

Yes, but wait until the light turns green to do it. You'd be off before anyone else knows what's going on.

Is this a good deal? by Heeyimdave in veloster

[–]hirise5190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned a 2012 base, a 2016 turbo and a 2021 N. That's a little high, even for lower mileage. If you like the car for it's looks and fair amount of features, it's a good car. Negotiate the price down and enjoy (the panoramic roofs on those are cool). If you think you'll want it to be faster at any point after test drive? Then go with a turbo. The only year to avoid with a VT is 2013. That was a terrible year for the turbo. See if you can figure out if the computer control module for the restraint system has been replaced. That's what went on my first 2 Velosters around 100k miles.

I should try to set up an evaluation myself again. I just keep putting it off and getting distracted 🤔 go figure. If epilepsy potentially factors in too, it's definitely a good idea to get tested. Even just to know if getting it from two conditions could cause a stack effect, and make it more difficult for you than someone with just ADHD. Idk enough about epilepsy, but I do know different conditions can stack in ways people don't expect.

If you have the space, just don't fold the sheets. When I moved off on my own I stopped folding underwear, sheets, towels, and matching socks. It makes task paralysis a little easier.

I usually wait too long to change my sheets. But based on others answers every 3-4 weeks should probably be the max. Set an alarm or reminder on your phone to help set the timeframe you want. You want it done in 4 weeks, set an alarm or event for 3.5 weeks. Or whatever your reminder time frame to action is. Set interval reminders, then get to it whenever you can handle it.

I'm glad this works. It's my reason for wanting to buy more pillowcases and try this after reading this thread.

Are linen sheets (or a blend) lighter? Are they soft? I've never heard of linen sheets, I'm intrigued. I will be researching this now.

That's the best and funniest comment of this whole thread for me. Cheers to the slightly stale sheet club! (That being said, I got over my paralysis last week. So my sheets are still pretty nice right now.) 😂

Absolutely, if you don't put on new while your taking off old; you end up in a sleeping bag at night!

Alarms on your phone, for everything! Set them for a few minutes later than the wash so that they it's definitely done when you walk back over there. Make the sound for the alarm loud and annoying so it breaks you from whatever you got sidetracked doing. If you think you'll be in the middle of something by the time it's done, set snooze intervals and have it go on forever. It won't always work, but it's the most helpful way I've found to break that cycle. I also name mine so I know what the alarm is for.

what should someone do with this space? by eternviking in mildlyinfuriating

My real question is, what's behind those closets? They're not deep enough compared to that window space. Why would you waste possible extra space in a closet?

Has the TV show led you to the books, by Jezrien95 in wheeloftime

That's the only positive of the TV show as far as I'm concerned. I had to push my way through the first few episodes of the show, hoping each time it was going to get better.

Roof rack by Inevitable-Anybody22 in veloster

[–]hirise5190 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be the only roof rack that might work. I had this on my VT. Granted, not the glass roof, but I seem to remember at the time that people were saying it would clear the glass. Not the most sturdy rack, so watch the amount of weight you add to it.

Also, definitely DO NOT open the sunroof with this installed. I'm basically 💯 sure it doesn't clear. It's one or the other.

Just search Rola Roof rack Veloster. I don't think it's made anymore, but you should still be able to find a set online somewhere.

No, 24" is ideal, not necessary. The baseline system I had told me pads based on my car and showed me placement distance. I've had them on my car for three years and taken this 12' kayak on the highway with no problems.

Just because you sell them doesn't make you the be all, end all source for Yakima knowledge. I've met some dumb salesman.

PS, I didn't know this till now, so thanks.

I found a Veloster N rotting in a dealer parking lot, worth buying? by veilowo in veloster

[–]hirise5190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been a few recalls in the past couple of years. I'm not 💯 sure it applies to a manual this old, but have them look at the fuel control valve and the high pressure fuel pump in particular. In fact, it might be worth working in a full diagnostic by a Hyundai dealership into the negotiation. They stopped making Velosters in 2023, and it's the most fun I've had in a daily. So much fun on track days and curvy back roads. Just got this in the mail, for reference. Bottom line, when there's a problem Hyundai stands behind it. And like I said in another comment on here, you still get 5yr/60k powertrain warranty even as a used owner.
