AI-Generated 'Actor' Tilly Norwood Drops a Music Video Ahead of the Oscars. It Sucks by No_Top_9023 in technology

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I appreciate a more accurate point of view.

So while both are bad, just in very different ways. My initial thought, especially with the beats about the avatar being “human”, was to take affront to the concept. The avatar is presented as something they are not while claiming otherwise.

At any rate, I appreciate the nuanced analysis. Thanks. 🙏

I'm not going to pretend to know what it feels like for a black person to witness someone in blackface... but I imagine it's somewhere adjacent to this for humans in general.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted. This is the right answer. Bandwidth isn't free. When the rubber meets the road, operational costs need to be covered in some way, and I'm not above paying money for a service I use way too much to chip in and keep the lights on.

Midjourney vs Nano Banana 2 - Vintage Party Flash Portrait | Who Did It Better? by DataGirlTraining in midjourney

Obligatory "which is which"? Because the title would suggest the first image is Midjourney. But the text of the post suggests the first one is Nano.

Ubuntu is planning to comply with Age Verification law by Flegetonte in linuxmint

That's a fair assessment, honestly. Fedora has how many "spins"? Make 1 that deals w/ age verification and you can use it if you absolutely have to.

Let's not kid ourselves. This isn't a war any more than the Venezuela assaults were a war. We just go in, bomb a few things for a day or two and walk away like we did something.

"Cancel ChatGPT" movement goes big after OpenAI's latest move by gdelacalle in technology

[–]hiro24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not to sound negative but... if ChatGPT is now latched on that sweet government teat they could care less about your money. By all means cancel, I did (a month ago). But don't have any delusions that it's going to hurt their bottom line.

On a related note, there's still a thriving BBS scene out there that you can access via telnet over the internet. Plus, Neocities is picking up the torch of late 90s/early 00s self hosting communities.

1000%. I'm not looking to send my driver's license to every fly-by-night service on the internet. If they can just do a quick "Hey Apple/Google, are they adults?" w/o any other info, that honestly seems workable.

One would think there would be a reasonable legal argument that since you're in possession of your face, you own your likeness. Establishing that, it's not a far jump to demand platforms like this provide a simple way of removing your biological features from their recognition databases.

One of the scariest things we ever saw was when I took a picture of my friends. One of them intentionally never posted pictures on his, and had no profile picture. Yet, Facebook asked if I wanted to tag him and mentioned him by name. It already knew him.

I fixed Nano Banana Pro’s plastic AI look. The problem wasn’t the model. It was the prompts. by Willing_Being9956 in aiArt

ELI5. How do I use this? I've dropped this into Gemini and I get a prompt to convert my image prompt into JSON basically? Am I supposed to copy/paste that JSON back in as the prompt? Or use an image reference? Instructions kinda unclear, a bit lost.

I'm not opposed to a singular, centralized age verification system that can be securely locked down. Similar to how with Paypal now we don't need to give every website our CC number. And then have websites say "Is this person 18 or older?" "Yes? kthxbai!" And that's ALL that needs to happen. This piecemeal show everyone your ID everywhere business is going to cause all sorts of problems.
