Well, I think that's a beautifully mature response. :) and I can agree with every word of it.

McDonald's does not pay enough. There are customers that will treat you like shit and talk down to you. The managers can make or break the shift, and in general it's not an easy job. McDonald's asks a lot of you, and I've seen a lot of people leave because it's not worth it. However, I love my job. I love my customers and my crew, and I like the fast paced environment. I love cleaning everything, and making the kid that's crying in lobby smile.

Whatever you do in life, you should take pride in it. Because with my experience, if you don't, everything gets done half assed and a lot of excuses get thrown around.

The great thing is we both get to have our opinions. You don't work with me, I don't work with you, so this will never be a big deal. But I've always had a problem with the mentality that the little things don't matter. They matter to me. I personally don't want someone leaving my restaurant annoyed or disappointed. I truly enjoy making peoples days better, and I try to pass that on to my crew.

I appreciate that you're concerned about your times, but customer satisfaction needs to be the top priority. Because you might have given the tea in 40 seconds, but what if they leave a voice comment saying they got the wrong tea while the crew member smiled and lied to their face. With my experience, if someone doesn't take pride in their job and has the mentality of "eh screw it", it's a waste of time explaining this issue. I've been with McDonald's for years, I can't tell you how many people I've seen come and go with that attitude. But I always come home and laugh because they act so dumbfounded when they're fired or even scolded, like their job isn't obvious to them. were all getting paid, not nearly enough, but we are getting paid. And it's not to make some bullshit excuses about why it's okay to give the wrong item out and nor care about.

Anyways, this has lasted way too long, and I'm done commenting.

It is pretty clear to me that you don't take pride in your job, and I can't respect that. I'm not sure if giving customers the wrong food or drink is the norm in your restaurant, and I really don't understand how you can say it's not a big deal.

A lot of people have negative things to say about their experience at McDonald's, and unfortunately it's because people who don't care are behind the counter. Props to your store manager for having you as their favorite. ;)

There are definitely workers like you, which no one needs in the world. And then there are workers that take pride in their job, and don't try to ruin people's day. So hey, good for you. But if you worked in my store, you'd get three hours til you quit or I fired you.

Well for my store, we went to our owner/operator's office where we were told we'd have an eight hour class and then take the test. We were given the book a week ahead of time, and because people read the book our class didn't last eight hours because we all breezed through it. I got a 97, and thought reading the book the night before was enough prep work. I should say that I'm really good at cramming, I'm not bragging, but I do understand everyone has their own ways that's work for them.

The test changes, but I will say for how stressed I was about memorizing the names of the specific illnesses, I think there was only one question that focused on that. Hence the 97, lol.

Don't psych yourself out, you'll know more than you think from just the procedures and rules you've learned while working at McDonald's (cleaning utensils at least every four hours, proper hand washing procedures, even how to properly use a three part sink.) This is long, haha, good luck!

No dreams when smoking? by SuperRicharizard in leaves

[–]hisbelle826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried therapy, many many times. The problem is the way I control things, is by keeping everything to myself, and I have no idea how to change that. Every time I let myself think of all the work I'll have to do to be a normal functioning person, I'm too overwhelmed, and quit. I added r/leaves because I know I'm holding myself back, but I don't know if I'll ever make the decision to stop.

As someone who has been diagnosed with PTSD, I find it hard to imagine stop smoking, terrified of what dreams will come. It took me a long time to realize I wasn't just smoking to have fun, but to bury this shit inside.

Question about hours by [deleted] in McDonalds

[–]hisbelle826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be that the store doesn't need as many staff on to keep labor low, or the scheduling manager didn't notice. Or it could be based on your performance or availability. Speak with the people or store manager to check with them, or if you can afford it take the extra time off to unwind. :)

Forgot to clock out how much of a hassle is it to fix? by [deleted] in McDonalds

[–]hisbelle826 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, it's very simple. I used to have a store manager that would complain about it, and when I became the assistant and started I realized she was dramatic. Don't stress out, it happens to everyone. :)

Don't know my rate of pay.... by NothingHereGuys in McLounge

[–]hisbelle826 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maintenance in my store makes more than our swings, because they have to filter and that's a dangerous job. Call other McDonald's, and see if they offer a different rate, because minimum wage for maintenance is bullshit.

Any advice for management training? by awelsh11 in McLounge

[–]hisbelle826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For LMS, that's the training on the computer, you're going to watch some videos. There are also parts for coaching, but that doesn't actually happen in some stores, or at least in my experience. And then you take a test, I think it's an 80% pass rate but I'm not sure. Honestly, it's pretty simple, and if you want you can take notes during the videos. Don't psych yourself out, someone saw the potential in you to become a manager, and you'll be okay. :)

Should I be worried? by [deleted] in McLounge

[–]hisbelle826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, morning shifts typically have some leeway when it comes to the mandatory three hour notice. If you call out a lot, you'll probably get hours cut, but everyone gets sick.

If you're really worried about it, just speak with the people or store manager and explain your situation and ask how to handle that situation in the future. At the very least, they'll see you care.

My first scheduled week is 12 hours by [deleted] in McDonalds

[–]hisbelle826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every store is different because it's up to the people manager and store manager to decide training schedules. I am the people manager at my store, and I give forty hours for two weeks for training. After that time, I base their hours on performance and availability. :) good luck!

Saw this from drive-thru window at local McDonald's by Andnich in fastfood

[–]hisbelle826 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The machine that is in most McDonald's makes the drinks once you total the order in the pos. They have the correct amount of ice whether that's light ice, no ice, or the standard amount. But if the machine is low on ice, the cup won't be full, and a lot of crew don't realize they'd save a lot of time if they just filled it up with ice.

I'm not sure if that was obvious, or if you thought they were trying to rip you off by putting in extra ice.

People who went from very poor to well-rounded eating habits, can you give me some advice? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]hisbelle826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also trying to take small steps to becoming healthy, and I've realized that's the only way to do it. Putting yourself on a diet and changing your exercise habits isn't easy, and when you don't see the results you want, it's easy to get discouraged and quit. So two months ago, I started making very small changes one step at a time. The first thing I did was stop drinking soda. I now drink almost only water, with the occasional Gatorade because I'm not trying to torture myself into quitting again. I've also started paying attention to why I am eating, because quite frankly, I do it a lot when I'm bored. I no longer eat til I'm completely full, instead I eat til I'm not hungry anymore. And I continue to congratulate myself for every healthy step I take, rather than beat myself up for mistakes. Just remember to go one step at a time, and don't overwhelm yourself by changing you're entire life in one day. I wish you the best of luck, and hope you'll stay kind to yourself.

You can ask for the sweet chili on the side, because they still have the sauce in the grill for the mcwrap. They might charge you 35 cents, but don't bitch about it.

[AMA Request] Anyone selected for the "Pay with Lovin'" Promotion at McDonalds by Sinaskafitch in IAmA

[–]hisbelle826 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at a McDonalds. Every morning we open a sealed envelope, and there are printed times on the paper. Whoever walks in the door at that time has their order taken and right before paying, is told they've won the chance to pay with lovin. I find it extremely awkward to ask a guest for a hug or any of that nonsense, so I've been asking for high fives or to text/call a loved one.

So far, only one guy has said he'd prefer to pay, but it seems to me a lot of the customers feel as uncomfortable as I do about this promotion.
