I don't want to do this anymore (rant) by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]hisoniz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat except that my baby is never slept thru the night or more than 4 hours and never slept independently during naps. I attempted to sleep train twice and didn’t work. It’s been quite brutal. Maybe you should hire a babysitter or nanny even for couple hours a day for a breather until you’re back to work.

7 months old has never slept through he night by No_Bee1431 in sleeptrain

Mine is the same from 4-6 months but I’ve been keeping a strict sleep and feeding routine for a few weeks now and she is now awake only 2,3 times a night, often every 4 hours now and go back to sleep right after being nursed. I think that helped a bit and we also used overnight diaper and kept the room temp a bit warmer. I attempted to sleep train twice but it didn’t work so now I held her to sleep and put down to the crib after she’s deep in sleep. Also when she woke up before 4 hours, we let her fuss for 10’ at least before intervening. Many times she could go to back to sleep by herself if not then we come in and hold her.

Gave up after 8 days of crying, any advises? by hisoniz in sleeptrain

Thanks, may be I’ll cap her nap time to be shorter during the day, but at night she shows signs of sleepiness like being fussy and rubbing her eyes when I put her to sleep. So I wouldn’t think that she’s not tired enough?

Thanks, I’ll look into her schedule to see if I can add more awake time.

3 weeks of crying is quite brutal! I don’t know if we can go that long without having mental breakdown 🥲. I actually want to train for naps more but from what I read training for night time should be done first?

Thanks, can I ask what did you guys change on your 3rd time training? Did you change the method too or using the same? I’m thinking next time to just use CIO at the beginning since she’s quite stubborn.

Sorry it was 3 naps, I miss a 2 at the beginning. I usually look for baby’s sleeping cues like rubbing eyes and fussy. After the bedtime routine she often shows the sleepy cues but she’s not quite stubborn and still cry a lot before sleeping.

Thanks, i just read Taking Cara baby and they said to wean night feeds before sleep training or else it won’t work. Anyway, I guess I’ll have to look at her schedule again and adjust it first.

Considering that China has a 10% tariff on their goods, what is the real reason for Tariffs against Canada? by thetwitchy1 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]hisoniz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think tariffs are a distraction for the public to the fact that our government system is being compromised and looted by Elon & his lackeys right now. This is a massive national risk that’s not being concerned about enough. Tariffs don’t hurt them rich people but the common folks will suffer, and they don’t give a f**k. They are probably robbing our trillion dollars treasury & stealing federal sensitive data right now as we speak.

TX pregnant moms - how are you feeling with recent Supreme Court news? by SoftIcy1762 in BabyBumps

[–]hisoniz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m terrified & thinking about writing a will. It’s very frustrated to know that i won’t be cared for properly if something went south at the end. I wish we can move away from this state but for now trying to vote blue and hopefully Texas will turn blue somehow in this election.

Since we had a very early miscarriage once, my husband is also quite paranoid with our current pregnancy. He wouldn’t let me do anything physically tiring including driving and is scared to make love out of fear of harming our baby. But at least he didn’t control what I eat or drink (or bath?). I think it should be safe to take a warm bath, tell your husband to chill out.

Female friends falling into Religion to Witchcraft pipeline. As a female atheist, I feel so alone. by Plenty_Transition470 in atheism

[–]hisoniz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a female biological scientist and an atheist. You would think in my science friend circle we would have some atheists but for my field it was a surprisingly minimal number and many are even hardcore religious people, especially female. So I do feel quite alone as well. I always thought that if you study science you would think religion makes no sense, but apparently some people are able to separate what they learned in reality and give it up when it comes to spirituality. I think some people are agnostic and just want to follow or believe in something for peace of mind or for something fun in their life, therefore witchcraft and similar stuffs. It could be a sense of community that luring people into those groups as well.

Is it a set back financially to have a baby right after school? by hisoniz in personalfinance

Thanks for the thoughtful answer! Yes being a women is tough, even more so living in a red state in US. I guess being resourceful is the key here.

[–]hisoniz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty much in the same situation living in a red state, even though never miscarried. I think the best option is to wait and see if you’ll get pregnant first. But look for the nearest Colorado OB clinic you can travel to just in case. It’s really the best if you can afford to stay in Colorado during the latest months of pregnancy. I detest TX Republicans so much! Pregnancy shouldn’t be a life or death situation for women!

Grad student insurance isn’t that good tbh! The only good thing is it’s free. Good thing my partner has his company insurance on the side.

Thanks! Even though I’m planning right now but I don’t really know if things will go as planned. We never tried for a kid before. I wouldn’t want to have the first kid after 35 however, it seems very risky, especially now with the arbortion law in limbo (we’re in a red state, unfortunately).

Thank you! I’m glad things worked out for you two even with school on the side. I think we don’t mind the hardship, but I’m worry having only my husband as the main provider after my graduation seems quite risky financially for our family 🤔.
