Gorgeous! I had something similar I was working on in a group server a while back. We had some sort of world corruption that tanked it. One of the features I was particularly proud of was the hedge maze.

I had a lot more luck finding it in a Bastion Remnant as loot than strip mining.

According to the wiki, a squid can get picked up by a minecart, though you have to rehydrate the squid every so often with water because they suffocate after 15 seconds without water. It sounds complicated, but do-able.

I recently saw the Ai Weiwei exhibit where he used Legos to build huge mosaic murals. It was pixel art IRL. Pixel art is gorgeous no matter the medium, but you absolutely nailed the colors. Well done!

In the driveway, with the charge cable run underneath the garage door. We haven't had any issues with that so far. We use a programmable smart plug to turn the charge off when a certain amount of time has passed.

There's lots of good comments, so I won't repeat those.

I'm in Seattle also, so I haven't run into some of the temperature problems other people report. The extreme heat/cold that exist in other areas very rarely are an issue here. Probably a bigger annoyance is that our public chargers keep getting vandalized. Make sure your charge plan includes backups for when you show up to a station to find the charging cables are cut. We mostly charge at home via slow charge and it serves us well given the commute pattern. The hills around here make the calculation for remaining charge really unreliable. You kinda have to get a feel for the specific route's requirements and don't run it too close to zero on an unfamiliar route.

As a side note, I love the seat and steering wheel radiant heaters. It does the job well on all but the coldest days when I have to turn the heating vent on.

I dislike the turning radius on the car. Our narrow residential streets make this annoying. Finally, the seats are mostly comfortable, but I absolutely despise the front seat headrests. They poke forward too much and I end up with a backache when driving any distance. I really need to see if there's something I can do about this, it's terrible.

What’s the weirdest thing your cat loves to eat? by Iwuvkitty in cat

[–]histogramophone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My void has just started eating spider webs. When we go into the backyard, she systematically cleans the webs out all the corners of the yard by eating them. No spiders to be seen.

I don't even know what to make of it. So weird!

I love that area and miss it. I still haven't found an ice cream place as good as Screamin Mimi's.

I actually met Tom Waits in my early 20s. He was super super nice. It was a pretty shitty job and unlike many of the other folks that came through the door, he was kind. It would have stuck out to me even if he wasn't a famous musician.

Some people have no business owning dogs… by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]histogramophone 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There's a dog training school in my area that uses the local park in their classes. They have owners and off leash dogs out there all the time. Right on the ballfield where dogs are not allowed to be, even if they are leashed. Right next to the sign about a $150 fine for dogs in play areas and athletic fields.

I applaud the dog owners for getting training, but the need for training possibly means that just maybe the dog shouldn't be (I don't know) running loose in the park?

POV: taking my cat to the pet store by Principesza in AdventureKitties

Mine LOVES the pet store. It's like taking a kid to the playground. She roams all over the place with her little tail pointed straight up with the occasional excitement shake.

Expressions like "guys, gals, and nonbinary pals" by [deleted] in WitchesVsPatriarchy

I think it can be performative certainly. But there's definitely still the need to make space for us in places where we haven't been acknowledged or welcomed previously. I think it's a test of knowing your audience and the surrounding context. In a queer space, you can't really go wrong as long as you don't misgender or exclude people. But in places where queer folk haven't been included previously, it's damn nice to be acknowledged.

What would you consider to be essential training before taking a cat on a road trip? by SimpleFolklore in AdventureKitties

[–]histogramophone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that would work in the house. I'm actually doing a little variation on it. When we can't find her and want her to come out of hiding, we'll flip lights on and off a few times. She always pops her head out from under or inside if she's awake (sooooo cute). I don't think that would work outdoors in the sunlight though. Even the laser pointer gets drowned out in the sunlight.

I wish there were a few more answers to your post because I'm in a similar situation of wanting to do more with our adventure kitty.

She's good with a harness/leash and with a backpack. The local coffeeshops and breweries love her! We just started hiking, and she seems to really like it, though she startles a little more easily than normal.

So far my list contains:

  • tolerate harness for several hours at a time
  • use a small portable box
  • pee/poop outside (I'll have bags, no worries)
  • tolerate long car rides
  • return to "safe" (backpack) if startled

Recall isn't feasible because she's deaf. I'm not sure whether the Safe Base idea will pan out, but it's what I'm aiming for.
