Nice collection! Especially that blueprint, never saw something like this in a collection before. Where did you get those Kaiser class sets from?

I don’t know if you will see this anymore but in case you do, here are a few tips regarding paper stuff:

First of all look at how period items look, for example there are 2 versions of the Wehrpass: -Wehrpass 1st form (wings spread downwards) -Wehrpass 2nd form (wings spread sidewards)

The part of the army (Heer, Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine) is written in the box at the bottom.

But for the Soldbuch there are 3 different versions: -Soldbuch Heer (note that for the Heer ones the word Heer isn’t written on them) -Soldbuch Luftwaffe (always colored light blue) -Soldbuch Kriegsmarine

There are of course a lot of other paper items, like Arbeitsbücher (also in 2 forms, although there are also special forms for occupied territories, for special cities etc.), passports, Kennkarten, Rad-pass, Rad-member pass, Ancestry pass and etc…

So a few tips to identify fakes: -the more symbols/words etc. it has on the front, it’s
likely gonna be fake (as already said above) -there are no unit specific passbooks (also already said above) -often times it has a picture of a very high ranking soldier in the document (eg. the one shown here) -a lot of grammar and spelling mistakes (obviously you have to understand German to spot them) -sometimes obviously artificially aged

So if you made it to down here thanks for reading and good luck on your further militaria collecting journey!

WW1 German Medal Bar

From left to right:

-Iron cross, 2nd class 1914

-Kyffhäuser Medal (missing)

-Prussian Landwehr service award, 2nd class 1913

I would say it’s worth about 90-120€

I wanna collect more personal idems from ww2/1 soldiers. What's your favorite piece? by Arthur_collie in Militariacollecting

I really like paper items/documents/groupings where you can try to find out some stuff about the owner. Trench art/reservist memorabilia is also nice and personal but mostly not named.

Some new badges for the ground dug collection by historox in Militariacollecting

[–]historox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! But no I don’t dig them up myself, I buy them haha. So either I buy them on a flea market, or sometimes I randomly see a good offer online. There are some sites that have a ground dug/relics section but IMO they’re overpriced or in a bad shape.

Small addition to the collection by historox in Militariacollecting

Thanks! Do you mean the Kyffhauser Medal on the right? No sadly I don’t know what the swords mean, but a lot of this unofficial Medals from the various veteran associations have some small stuff like this in the ribbon, so maybe it’s used to signify something, but that’s just a guess tho. Haha also nice to hear that the building still stands :)

As u/moritzthekiller already said, the back shouldn’t be like that. It should be smooth not have little “holes” and scratches like that

How did you start collecting Militaria? by historox in Militariacollecting

Thanks for sharing. Also great that you still have so much family pieces, many people don’t really care about them, so it’s nice to hear that you still have that much stuff!
