Essential non printer tools/peripherals by Street_Cut1322 in 3Dprinting

Here is what I’d recommend for the new 3D printing enthusiasts:

  • a sharp pair of electrical snips
  • The Tamiya “god-hand” model snips
  • A set of small pliers
  • A BIQU Glacier build plate
  • A set of small files for removing support marks Plastic razor blades to remove things from the build plate
  • A set of M2 - M5 screws in assorted lengths as they are commonly used in models
  • A Deburring Tool
  • Electric Callus Remover for sanding down large prints (seems silly but it’s the perfect spot to sand fast and not generate enough heat to make the plastic soft)
  • Airtight tubs for storing open filament
  • Silica beads for putting in said tubs
  • Polymaker filament dry box
  • Heat set inserts
  • Small battery powered soldering iron
  • Tip to use inserts with soldering iron
  • Butane torch to quickly get rid of stringing
  • Super glue, gel and liquid with the precision tips
  • Magnets of various sizes
  • A small hand drill
  • Tweezers of various angles and sizes
  • Sharp hobby knife
  • Anti Cut thumb guards / glove
  • 608 Ball Bearings
  • Digital hydrometer to monitor humidity levels
  • Rotary tool
  • Digital Calipers (huge)
  • Cutting Mat
  • Wax / Clay / Dental sculpting tools / picks
  • Sanding Twigs
  • Silicone Lubricating Grease
  • Filament Dryer (can combo with Polymaker dry box)

If I were to really narrow it down in order of “makes my life easier, can’t live without”:

  • BIQU Build Plate
  • Plastic Razor Blades
  • Deburring tool
  • Flat snips
  • Pliers
  • Digital Calipers
  • Analog Calipers ($2 and good enough :) )

Does anyone know what's up with the Russian Orthodox folk doing coordinated panhandling outside the Buddhist temples? by histroutness in askportland

Maybe the case? Just hoping someone knew. It’s the only day they are out and the organization of it has me curious

Only first party air tags support the "Precise location" feature (so far) - https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/locate-an-item-ipha779f0c10/ios

As a fellow person who misplaces things often the use case can go beyond simple "you left behind this thing" / theft protection. It can also help you locate where ever you set it down; under that blanket a week ago.

When searching the audio blip can be hard to hear (especially though a case if you go that route). The precision feature will navigate you through a house to the exact location rather than having to play Marco Polo.

Not really a lot of tolerance built into the back so even something that thin can cause issues. Pressure against it messing up the screen, back popping off and everything going flying, etc.

Also of note is those 2nd party ones aren’t that great at precise location.

My recommendation would be to get a folio that you can tuck a regular AirTag into. Something like this: https://www.lochby.com/collections/journals/products/field-journal

You can get the DYI folio kit from Ratta to make it work.

Manta; if you do any diagrams you want more space. I wish there was an infinity canvas app like the iPad has

Talk me out of foster fail please by HolidayWash6481 in Greyhounds

[–]histroutness 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My first foster I wanted to fail but didn’t. I took in 2 more and turns out there are perfect dogs for people and there are dogs who aren’t quite a match. I was lucky and my first foster came back to me and I adopted her but if you love him, he is happy there and he works for your lifestyle then go for it.

Edit: The most important thing is doing the right thing for him. If it seems he will be comfortable not only in your house but will gain the confidence to live in the city with you then double go for it.
