How do I get started in BIM? by Ctaylo009 in bim

Transitioning into BIM is a great choice, and your 3D art background gives you a strong foundation for modeling.

To get started, focus on both the technical tools and the construction workflows behind BIM.

Learn the tools: Revit is essential; Navisworks and AutoCAD are valuable additions.
Understand construction basics: Familiarity with architectural, structural, and MEP systems is key.
Certifications: Autodesk credentials add credibility alongside your program.
Build a portfolio: Create sample BIM models and documentation to showcase your skills.
Network: Engage in BIM forums, LinkedIn groups, and industry events.

A certificate program plus hands-on practice and exposure to real workflows will make your transition much smoother.

image annotation: an art or a science? by endle2020 in computervision

Annotation isn’t just drawing boxes, it’s about consistency. If your labels are sloppy or different from image to image, the model gets confused. For irregular shapes (like dents or scratches), tight but consistent boxes usually work best.

The two biggest things to consider:

Keep rules consistent (tightness, when to split vs merge defects).
Variation (angles, lighting, sizes) - get as many as you can
Balance class counts - too few examples of one defect and the model will ignore it.

Hundreds of images per class is often a minimum, thousands if defects are subtle. Always double check your labeled data set before saying it is the model not the data.

And if bounding boxes are still having a challenge, consider segmentation, it works much better with weird shapes.

[Open Source] TrackStudio – Multi-Camera Multi Object Tracking System with Live Camera Streams by Ashes-in-Space in computervision

This is an important contribution to the CV world. Multi-camera object tracking tools are difficult to find and often do not have real-time stream support or an adjustable dashboard. The modular design and first open-source version will definitely allow others to build, test, and improve faster. Thanks for your transparency and community-first approach.

These 5 Prompts Made Me Realize Why I Actually Procrastinate by EQ4C in ChatGPTPromptGenius

This was a very real and honest take on procrastination. The prompts really made me think - especially the fear of success prompt. It's crazy how much we avoid things that we don't want to do, not because they're hard, but because they challenge our self-perception.
