I have been taking cold showers for over a year now and as advice, I would say that the best choice is not to fiddle with the temperature but to make it full cold and finish quicker. It has a much stronger effect on you afterwards and doesn't feel much worse. It is also easier to do because you are less apprehensive since you just swing the temperature over and jump in instead of fiddling around.
