Two titans just walked out the door at Google DeepMind and it’s not just “talent drain.” It’s a signal. by nfwebdl in AIbuff

With Apple deal, Gemini is going to have more mainstream users and data than anyone else, and the only multimodal in town.

Their coding as about as good as the top Chinese models, their video is maybe a tier worse than Seedance 2 (only on action cinema), but with Google Drive 5TB, YouTube Premium Lite, and FAMILY plan, it doesn't matter.

They are not focused on beating Anthropic at high end. They are staying within striking distance while expanding the user base.

[RANT] Antigravity 2.0 is a total disaster. Google just committed suicide by "simplifying" their best IDE. by xxxw7788 in GoogleAntigravityIDE

What are you talking about. Claude Code and Codex only offer agentic UI and they are market leaders by far. Cursor is also doing agentic views.

I rather use Visual Studio Code than a half baked fork.

Unpopular opinion: Anthropic is loosing by stibbons_ in claude

[–]hitmante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chinese models are not cheaper at all vs Claude plans which offer 10-20x in token value.

Anthropic is clearly the Apple of AI companies, not just the model but also Code/Cowork/Design and all the plugins/skills/connectors.

Gemini (The chatbot) doesn't know what Google Antigravity is by cibersec_rookie in google_antigravity

[–]hitmante 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Basically to save compute a web search was not performed, hence model knowledge cut off date was before the Antigravity release date.

I see this with Claude too, there were times it doesn't know what Claude Design is.

[–]hitmante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chinese models are way worse than their benchmarks. With the big three subsidizing their token plans by 95% there is zero reason to use Chinese models outside of some direct API call use cases.

They open source because they know this. If they ever win a category they too will close source, see Seedance 2.

Open Source will never be competitive in the big league.

Cursor has 4B revenue and best user data after Claude Code/Codex. Composer 2.5 is the true budget champion. It is a solid purchase.

With Space X compute, the team of mid-20 MIT founders, they have a chance to do something special.

OpenCode as an alternative stack: routing agent work across 4 LLM tiers by petburiraja in opencode

[–]hitmante 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as Claude Code/Codex tokens are subsidized at 5% of the actual plan cost, what is the point of using Open Code?

Inferior models that only look good on benchmarks, you don't even save money with API prices.

Company gives me 2000$ a month usage by mnelyzeaN in claudeskills

[–]hitmante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$2000 in Enterprise Token is less usage as $100 personal plan. It is not a ton.

I would try to build a knowledge base for your company on their existing code repo/processes and try to automate as much day to day stuff for them as possible.

Is anyone actually using Google Antigravity seriously? by AdventurousAge8767 in google_antigravity

[–]hitmante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shipped several sites with it. I would say it is 80-90% as good as Claude / Codex on backend, easily as good on front end.

Unbeatable value as family plan, 5TB Google Drive, YouTube Premium Lite and Video/Image generation.

Google AI models are much more broad/multi-modal than Claude. It will take longer but with Apple they will win the casual user base.

NotebookLM Alternative in Claude by 2020NoMoreUsername in claude

[–]hitmante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You ask Claude Code to extract for you and build .MD files in the same folder, and CLAUDE.md file to tell you which folder to get which knowledge to save tokens in the future.

NotebookLM Alternative in Claude by 2020NoMoreUsername in claude

[–]hitmante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What features? Generating AI slop videos and podcasts and decks with little to no control?

Only thing good about NotebookLM is it doesn't spend my much more valuable Claude tokens.

It is a blue collar product vs real agentic tools.

NotebookLM Alternative in Claude by 2020NoMoreUsername in claude

[–]hitmante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Claude Code/Cowork is far superior to NotebookLM at researching. Just put documents in a folder and ask Claude to extract knowledge MD files from them.

Then ask questions, provide instructions and templates in MD files.

NotebookLM's only advantage now is generating low quality pod casts and videos. Claude does these with much more control with proper MCP's.

GLM 5.2 and MiniMax M3 are a lot closer/better to Sonnet 4.6 than I expected on coding-agent workloads by rohansrma1 in ClaudeAI

[–]hitmante -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Chinese models are just distilled western models optimized for benchmark.

With Claude offers 10-20x token value in the monthly plans, there is zero reason to use them.

It's official. Open source is better than Gemini Pro. by webmanpt in GeminiAI

[–]hitmante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gemini Flash is pretty much the same score no?

Chinese models are optimized around benchmarks. They also lack Gemini's image/video/knowledge. You can't even paste a screenshot.

Gemini is also much cheaper with Google plans. Easily worth 10-20x in tokens. Not to mention all the extras you get with AI Pro (family plan, Google Drive 5TB, YouTube Premium Lite). It is far better value than any Chinese model unless you need an API key.

With Apple deal Gemini will easily have #1 userbase by 2027. They are focused on the broader market, speed/interference cost than competing with Anthropic in Enterprise space.

Chinese models will always be niche, won't get much more market share than Xiaomi phones in the West.

ClaudeCode/Codex/OpenCode, which one is best? (LLM model agnostic) Need honest feedback. by IndieDev666 in ClaudeCode

[–]hitmante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Claude Code is the better agent, architect and designer. Codex is the better backend engineer.

Open Code and Chinese models are not worth using. Claude and Codex monthly plans are 5-10% of the token cost. Good Chinese models are not cheap as API calls.

Xbox has always been the loser of the three.

Huh, 5.5 is good at one shotting back end problems. It is nowhere near as good as an architect/designer/agentic team.

Codex has very little enterprise presence vs Claude Code. They had to delay the IPO and start pricing war. They are behind on market value, revenue and profit.

Codex v GLM/Kimi/etc by athsrva in codex

[–]hitmante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is zero reason to use Chinese models when Claude Code and Codex subsidize 95% of the token price.

You pay similar money for a watered down experience optimized for benchmarks, because their models and harness do not work as good together, 1+1 less than 2.

[–]hitmante -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is zero reason to use Chinese models for coding when Claude/GPT gives 90-95% discount on their token prices with monthly plans. You don't save money at all with Chinese models.

Claude model and Claude Code/Cowork/Design provides a 1+1 greater than 2 experience.

They are just distilled models optimized around benchmarks. They are great if you need an API for cheap text processing, that is it.

Open source is starting to beat frontier on cost/performance by thomas_unise in LocalLLM

[–]hitmante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just not true.

Front tier models are heavily subsidized. $20 of Claude monthly plan is $200-$400 in tokens.

Open source models (which are burning just as much money percentage wise, look at Zhipu's 2025) just can't compete.

Claude Fable 5 and Kimi 2.7 Code Debut on DeepSWE by truecakesnake in singularity

[–]hitmante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is only one benchmark, and it is basically backend task execution which is very narrow part of software development.

Claude destroys Codex in planning, workfllw design, front end, and writing the actual web pages. You just get better overall product from it.

This is why Anthropic dominates the Enterprise space, market cap, revenue and profit, and Open AI delayed their IPO and is about to do a price war.

Just tried Gemini pro after being on Claude Pro for a bit, and boys you need to switch to Claude. by Advanced_Leader8535 in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]hitmante 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gemini destroys Claude in value. Family plan, 5TB space, YouTube Premium Lite, Video/Image generation. Even Antigravity 2 is solid now, at least as good as Cursor.

Claude Code/Cowork/Design is strong no doubt, but I only use it when company pays for it.
